The critically-acclaimed and longstanding British alternative/indie rock band Foals have shared their new PSA music video for 'Wash Off' on March 9. The new video comes as a timely reminder to wash your hands during the spread of the upper respiratory virus COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus.

'Wash Off' is off Part 2 of the band's fifth studio album 'Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost' which released in October, fall of last year. Given the current state of the world right now, Foals have deemed it a wise choice to spread awareness of the disease through the release of their new public service announcement music video.

With the coronavirus threatening to become a worldwide pandemic, many aspects of everyday life have been disrupted, and even industries taking a toll such as the music industry. Festivals like Coachella, SXSW, Tomorrowland Winter 2020, Ultra Music Festival and more have had to cancel, according to CNN;  Stagecoach and Coachella, being the latest to officially cancel, according to Billboard. A growing list of artists have also cancelled their upcoming tours and appearances. Ozzy Osbourne recently cancelled his bio documentary premiere appearance while artists like Pearl Jam, Madonna, Avril Lavigne, Green Day and many more have decided it is better to pull out of performing to large crowds confined to tight spaces at their tours and gigs.

Foals' new music video is a PSA clip while we see 18-second segments of a simple close-up of the basin, a soap dispenser and straight-up handwashing (albeit very careful handwashing). Fans took to praise and encourage their favourite rock band on Twitter.

One fan responded to the 'Wash Off' PSA video announcement by sharing a "portable edition" of the video with step-by-step handwashing instructions, detailed pictures and all, with the song's lyrics at each step rather than actual instructions.

Fans acknowledged the song's straightforward nature which is a deviation from the ususal convoluted poetically-inclined numbers. A fan said, "Definitely beats Happy Birthday".

The Twitter responses were full of praise for the band. A fan says, "Foals forever... Destroy the coronavirus!" Apart from the many I-love-you and I-love-it responses, one fan says, "That is strangely hypnotic".
