Ae-jeong (Song Ji-hyo) has many reasons for wanting to work on Dae-o's (Son Ho-jun) first novel getting produced into a film. The biggest reason is the money that she owes Pa-do after getting scammed by her former boss at the film company that she worked in. However, in episode 3 of 'Was it Love' Ae-jeong explains to Dae-o that she also wanted him to complete his first novel. Since he never knew why she had left him all those years ago, he was never able to add the female perspective to his debut novel which was based on his own love story. So Dae-o had to leave it as an open ending that many fans of his continue to love.

However, when Ae-jeong brought up the incomplete story, Dae-o also continues to get irked by this. Even when he lectures on the basics of how to write a novel, one of the students who questions him about his debut novel shows interest in wanting to know what the female character had thought. The same thought is shared by Ryu-jin (Song Jong-ho) who is also unhappy at the moment after he failed to land the lead role in the Hollywood film that he had auditioned for.

In the current state, Dae-o also gets an offer from a Hollywood company to adapt the same debut novel into a film. Between Ae-jeong and a big opportunity to make his footing strong in Hollywood, Dae-o is confused about what he must do next. He also learned about the fact that Ae-jeong owes Pa-do (Kim Min-jun) 1.6 billion won and that also disturbs him. He is unaware of Ae-jeong's daughter Ha-nee and in the upcoming episodes, we will see how Dae-o learns about the reasons why Ae-jeong had to drop out of her final semester in college.

For now, just seeing her being mistreated by other production houses leaves Dae-o in a bad mood. It is bad enough for him to reconsider working with Ae-jeong and even announces that he is ready to sign a contract with her now. Initially, Ae-jeong believes that he is doing it out of pity but Dae-o convinces her that this is purely to complete his first work and if she is the only other person who can help her, then he must sign a contract with her and let her adapt his novel instead of letting anybody else.

In the meantime, Ae-jeong's mother ends up inviting Ha-nee's teacher Yeon-woo (Koo Ja-sung) who also happened to be someone who had liked Ae-jeong in the past. He had wanted to take responsibility for Ae-jeong and her baby in the past, but was not given the opportunity but hopes that he will get a second chance now that she has entered his life again.

Ha-nee, who has never met anyone from her mother's past, is extremely intrigued and begins to investigate Yeon-woo hoping to learn the truth about whether he is the father or not. She ends up going through her mother's stuff from when she was in college and finds an old phone in which she finds a number. Upon texting the number, we learn that it was Ryu-jin's and that's where the episode ends. So who exactly is Ha-nee's father?

New episodes of 'Was it Love?' will air on JTBC at 9.30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursday and will be available to stream on Netflix.
