Noh Ae-jeong is a single mother who dropped out of college just before the final semester because she got pregnant. Since then she had worked hard, at many part-time jobs before she could give interviews for a stable full-time job. She had always dreamed of becoming a movie producer but had to give up on it when she chose to keep her child. After many years, when her daughter Noh Ha-nee is in primary school, Ae-jeong gets hired as a bookkeeper at a production company.

After working hard for years, she receives a promotion to produce her first movie but this promotion comes with some very expensive strings that Ae-jeong did not expect to have to put up with. Turns out, her boss conned her by having her sign surety for a loan of 700 million won in return for her promotion, and this puts us her in a very tight spot. She now has no project to work on because rumors of the production company's boss having fled has already spread far and wide in the industry.

It is at this time that the man who lent the money to her boss, Koo Pa-do, meets her and tells her that she now owes the money lending firm a total of 1 billion won. As she struggles to navigate through this issue, she hears from her daughter's new school that Ha-nee has caused trouble on the first day of school.

Ha-nee has always found the fact that she doesn't have a father frustrating. She loves her mother and grandmother but the fact that this looming absence influences so many parts of her life push Ha-nee to act out through violence. This time, however, things are different. Ha-nee had only tried to help a student who was being bullied. The student she taught a lesson has parents who are regressive fools and judge Ha-nee for not having a father and that's when Ae-jeong puts a stop to it all and tells the couple that she will pay for the medical bill and that they have no right to hurt Ha-nee.

What hurts Ha-nee, however, is the fact that her mother never listens to her before apologizing for what she assumes are mistakes that were committed by Ha-nee. Ae-jeong believes that her daughter is a troublemaker, which resulted in Ha-nee transferring to a new school just one month after the school year began.

However, Ae-jeong has her own reasons. She apologized because Ha-nee is being targeted by the same money lending gangster group that is holding her responsible for 1 billion won. Amid all of this confusion, Ae-jeong has to find a script that can be converted into a film and it is this film that brings Ae-jeong in contact with men from the past. One of these men could be Ha-nee's father and this is the beginning of unraveling Ae-jeong's past and learning about the one man who had ended up abandoning her and her child.
