LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Showtime's upcoming series 'Waco: The Aftermath' is the sequel to the 2018 drama miniseries 'Waco' which tells the story of the siege that ensued between the FBI and the small religious community Branch Davidians. The upcoming series stars Michael Shannon, who reprises his role as Gary Noesner, an FBI hostage negotiator suffering from PTSD after the failed negotiations in Waco. The sequel will see the aftermath of the massacre and what took place after the entire community was burned to the ground leaving nine people who were later convicted and sent to prison. The upcoming five-episode series will document the repercussion of the disaster, including the trials of the surviving Branch Davidian members and the rise of homegrown terrorist Timothy McVeigh.

'Waco: The Aftermath' also stars David Costabile, J Smith Cameron, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson, and Abbey Lee. Creators Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle return as showrunners, executive producers, and directors.

Who was Rachel Jones?

One of the key characters who led the cult beside David Koresh and allowed his sick mindset to flourish was Rachel Jones. Jones' family visited Mount Carmel for over two decades and on an unfortunate day when they were at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for a summer camp, Rachel and her family met Koresh. David Koresh married Rachel when she was 14 years old. Shortly after their wedding, Koresh told her that he got a vision from God asking him to take more women to be his wife. Rachel opposed this unusual idea at first, but later gave up and agreed. Rachel's 18-year-old sister, Michelle, was one of Koresh's wives. He also had a son with her soon after that.

She lost some of her close kin during the siege

During the first shootout in February 1993, Rachel lost her father, Perry Jones. Her father was the chief runner of Koresh. Two months later, in the fire that killed the majority of the Branch Davidians cult, Rachel, Michelle, and her brother David (one of Koresh’s 'important men') all died, along with Rachel's and Michelle's young children.

Watch 'Waco: The Aftermath' on Showtime to know more about the twisted cult that lead to the death of many, while also marking fear in the citizens of the country. The series is set to release on April 16, 2023, at 10 pm ET/PT.
