Who was Rachel Jones?
One of the key characters who led the cult beside David Koresh and allowed his sick mindset to flourish was Rachel Jones. Jones' family visited Mount Carmel for over two decades and on an unfortunate day when they were at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for a summer camp, Rachel and her family met Koresh. David Koresh married Rachel when she was 14 years old. Shortly after their wedding, Koresh told her that he got a vision from God asking him to take more women to be his wife. Rachel opposed this unusual idea at first, but later gave up and agreed. Rachel's 18-year-old sister, Michelle, was one of Koresh's wives. He also had a son with her soon after that.
She lost some of her close kin during the siege
During the first shootout in February 1993, Rachel lost her father, Perry Jones. Her father was the chief runner of Koresh. Two months later, in the fire that killed the majority of the Branch Davidians cult, Rachel, Michelle, and her brother David (one of Koresh’s 'important men') all died, along with Rachel's and Michelle's young children.
