RICHMOND, VIRGINIA: A White woman was branded 'Karen' after she used a number of racial slurs as she was upset that a George Floyd hologram was cast over a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Virginia on Tuesday, July 28, night. In the video which went viral over the weekend, an elderly woman, wearing an oversized black top was seen getting infuriated after witnessing the hologram display. When she was told to leave by a number of African-American men who were in the arena, she started cursing at them, calling the city "mad" for organizing something like that.

“Racist woman loses her mind overseeing George Floyd’s image projected onto Robert E Lee statue in Virginia. ‘You’re a f****** n*****,’ the woman says, smacking the man recording the video. ‘Look at this n***** sh**," the caption to the video read.

The recording was reportedly made by Mikhail Smith and it shows multiple people trying to control the situation by trying to make the woman leave the confrontational situation. “This is public property. This is my city,” the woman shouts in the video, to which another person replies, “You’re a racist. Leave." At one point the woman stumbles after seemingly being pushed by someone off-camera. In another instance, in the end, she appears to have been attacked by another individual physically, after which people separate her from the group of men.

According to CNN, the hologram project was created by Change.org and the George Floyd Foundation. “Since the death of my brother George, his face has been seen all over the world,” Rodney Floyd, brother of George Floyd, said in a statement to CNN. “Now by partnering with Change.org, the hologram will allow my brother’s face to be seen as a symbol for change in places where change is needed most.”

The hologram starts out with fireflies that form the 3D image of Floyd, with his name depicted in graffiti on either side, according to Richmond Times-Dispatch. Designed by Kaleida Hologram Co., it was projected by Quince Imaging of Virginia, the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder reported.

Floyd, 46, was murdered on May 25 by then Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, who has since been charged with murder for kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes. Three officers with him who did not intervene were also charged and fired.

As per the CNN report, the event at the Lee statue is just the first of five stops in North Carolina, Georgia and other states this week. Following the route of the 1961 Freedom Rides, the hologram will replace Confederate statues as a “symbolic call to continue the fight for racial justice,” the project's organizers said. Last week, CNN had reported, the statue of Lee, along with and several other busts honoring Confederate figures, have been removed from the Virginia statehouse.

The Democratic Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates announced in a statement on Friday, July 24, that the Confederate figures were removed at her direction from the old House chamber, which was used by the body until 1904 and now serves as a museum. The process of removing the artifacts began on Thursday, July 23, evening, and was completed on Friday morning, according to the release.
