'Vincenzo': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about Korean dark comedy series
The South Korean dark comedy series ‘Vincenzo’, starring Song Joong-ki as the lead, is already creating a buzz among viewers. The recently released black-and-white poster showing Joong-ki looking fierce and suave in a stylish three-piece black suit has generated a lot of buzz among anticipating fans.
The Studio Dragon series, directed by Kim Hee-won of ‘The Crowned Clown’ fame, has been previously listed as the ten most-promising K-drama series of 2021. It has been listed under ‘Crime’, ‘Drama’ and ‘Comedy’ genres, and has been rated 15+ years and older in terms of age restrictions.
Release date
‘Vincenzo’ will premiere on February 20, 2021, at 5.30 pm and will continue till April 25, 2021. There are 16 episodes in total. It will release after the end of the famous series ‘Mr Queen’, starring Shin Hye-sun and Kim Jung-hyun.
Where to watch
The show can be watched on tvN on Saturdays and Sundays and on tvN Netflix. Each episode will be around 60-minutes.
Plot
The story of ‘Vincenzo’ centers around the lead character — Vincenzo Cassano. He was born as Park Ju Hyeong in Korea, but at the age of eight years, he gets adopted by an Italian family and gets sent off to Italy, where he comes to be known as Vincenzo Cassano.
Vincenzo is a mafia lawyer and consigliere, who advises and resolves disputes related to issues between the mafia. However, over the course of time, different warring factions in the mafia force him to escape to South Korea.
In Korea, Vincenzo falls in love with young lawyer Hong Cha Young, who will go to any lengths to win a case. With her help, Vincenzo achieves social justice in his own way.
The other important central character in the series includes a handsome, smart, sincere, and hard-working first-year law intern Jang Jun Woo. He often comes across as awkward and naive and creates trouble at work due to his mistakes.
Cast
Song Joong-ki
Popular South Korean actor Song Joong-ki plays the main role of Vincenzo Cassano. Song Joong-ki first gained fame with his acting in the historical coming-of-age drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. He also impressed everyone with his diverse roles in shows like ‘Running Man’ and films like ‘A Werewolf Boy’ and ‘The Battleship Island’.
The 35-year-old actor earned second place in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2017.
Jeon Yeo-bin
The 31-year-old actress Jeon Yeo-bin plays the role of Hong Cha Young. After her debut in the period film ‘The Treacherous’, Yeo-bin gained acclaim for her roles in ‘The Running Actress’ and ‘After My Death’. She had won the Grand Bell Award as Best New Actress for her performance in ‘After My Death’.
Ok Taecyeon
He plays the role of Jang Jun-woo in ‘Vincenzo’. Taecyeon is the main rapper in the K-pop group 2 PM. He made his acting debut in ‘Cinderella’s Sister’ in 2010 and then became the lead actor in the drama series ‘Dream High’.
