Michael Hirst, the creator of the History Channel's flagship show promptly announced a spin-off is being discussed and the saga will continue. Talking about expanding the 'Vikings' universe, Hirst said there will be a continuation and a connection but "it may not involve necessarily the same characters."
He added, "I can’t go into more details than that, but for the fans of the show it will be a continued enjoyment of the Vikings experience.” The news of the spin-off gave immense hope to 'Vikings' fans, who, of course, were disheartened to know the saga would end after season 6, releasing later this year.
