Pre-match buzz

At 20, Yastremska is one of the upcoming stars with plenty of potential. Earlier this year, she made it to the final of a Premier tourney before losing to Ashleigh Barty, the world number one in Adelaide. She will be up against a veteran Williams. At 40, it isn't just age and fitness the star is battling, but the doubts of critics about how much longer she can compete at the highest level. She boasts of 49 WTA titles, including 7 Gram Slams. However, her 2020 start was rather poor. To start with, she lost to Coco Gauff in Melbourne followed by the opening round loss at the Acapulco and Monterrey Open event. This will be a chance for her to get back to winning way. But with an opponent half her age, this isn't an easy task.

Who will win?

Up against an opponent who's stronger, faster and younger, Venus will have more than just a formidable fight. It's a tough call, but we'll have to go with Yastremska to take the win.
