‘Unexpected’: What went wrong between Jenna Ronan’s parents? Her dad doesn't want ex-wife Heather at baby shower

Jenna told her mom that it was important for the baby to see that it was one family, but her dad just won't have any of it

Jenna Ronan’s father Matt doesn't want his ex-wife to be at the baby shower that he was going to throw for Jenna. But Jenna cannot imagine having a baby shower without her mother.

Previously, we saw Matt (42) give in to her materialistic wishes when it came to buying her a luxury car for her 17th birthday or turning the spare room in the house into a nursery because she didn’t want to give up her bunny’s space for the baby’s crib. But when it came to inviting her mother, Heather, to the baby shower, her father strictly opposed the idea.

We have seen Jenna in action before and we know that once she is determined to do something, no force can stop her. On Sunday, January 17, episode, Jenna and Heather arrange a meeting over milkshakes. Jenna confessed to the camera that it wasn’t normal to throw two baby showers just because your family doesn't get along. She told her mother they needed to find a way to fix the situation and patch things up. Jenna told her mom that it was important for the baby to see that it was one family. “It’s called maturity,” Jenna said and Heather agreed.

A viewer of the show wrote in support of Jenna, “When Jenna’s dad talked about how he didn’t want to marry her mom she had pain on her face. It’s basically her fantasy that her parents get along..she’s not understanding that no matter how much she wishes it it won’t happen.” While another felt it wasn’t completely “not normal” to have two baby showers. Families that have split have been doing it for a long time but they added that being present at the same venue isn’t completely undoable as they wrote, “This girl needs to grow up! While I feel that both parents should be able to be in the same place at once - they don't have to sit on each other's laps or even at the same table -- can they really not be in the same venue?? That's ridiculous, but I also don't see why the mom can't have a shower for her side of the fam and the dad have another. Divorced parents and kids have been doing it for years. My hubs was married before and had kids from that marriage. The marriage ended badly (are they ever "good"?) but they both can be grown up enough when it comes to what their kids needed, and can be in the same place and civil for the sake of the situation. When their daughter was married they smiled and got thru it for their kid's happiness. But I still say this little brat doesn't deserve much except a reality slap! I feel badly for that baby!”

At this point we are curious to know what exactly went wrong between Jenna’s parents and why was Matt is holding such a grudge against her mother.

Previously, we saw Matt and Heather split up when Jenna was relatively younger. She was initially living with her mom but soon realized it was a better idea to live with her father and so she moved. Her father had confessed to the camera that he wouldn’t allow Heather to come to the baby shower. “It’s not gonna happen, not over my dead body,” he said. Her mother’s presence or lack of it in the baby shower will probably answer why exactly Jenna’s dad resents her mom.
