A pair of lifelong friends who have been together for almost 80 years since they first met have now moved into the same care home.

Kathleen Saville and Olive Woodward, both 89, became friends in 1941 when they were 11-year-old schoolgirls. The duo bonded over playing games and teasing boys and, at 89, they are now closer than ever, the BBC reports.

The pair has been dubbed the "dynamic duo" by staff at Berry Hill Park in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. According to them, one can still "see their love for each other."

Saville believes the key to their lasting friendship was that neither of them likes arguing. "We knew we would always be friends when we met. She means a lot to me," she said.

"If Olive goes first, she'll come back to fetch me," she added. "We're going to be friends in heaven."

The pair have never lived further apart than a 10-minute walk ever since they first met in their hometown of Mansfield.

Woodward is now a great grandmother. She joined her best friend at the care home six weeks ago.

According to Woodward, she fell into depression while at a different home away from her friend. However, her happiness knows no bounds now that they can see each other "all day every day."

"If I'm unhappy or in trouble, I only have to go to Kathleen and we'll always end up laughing," she said.

Meanwhile, Sally Tebbett, home manager at Berry Hill Park, noted how it wasn't usual to find best friends living in a care home together.

"They never stop chatting and giggling," she said. "It's so endearing. They genuinely love each other and you can see that."

That said, Kathleen and Olive have one piece of advice for those who want to keep their friendship alive over a staggering eight decades.

"Put yourself out and go and see your friend," Saville said. "Don't always wait for them to come and see you."

"It takes two to tango," she added.
