Tucker Carlson is convinced Michelle Obama cannot be ruled out from 2020 presidential elections even though she said she's not interested

The Conservative political commentator said there are enough signs that suggest the former first lady could eventually come to the Democrats' rescue next year against Donald Trump.

Her absence still means a lot in America’s electoral politics. Ever since Barack Obama neared the completion of the maximum limit of eight years at the White House, Democratic supporters looked up to his wife Michelle to enter the race next, following the Clintons’ example. But the philanthropist has so far said that she is not interested in the demanding job.

Her “when they go low, we go high” speech continues to be a top political quote from an apolitical and after 2016, Michelle’s admirers want her to join the 2020 race to take on Donald Trump.

Last month, a survey even said that if the 55-year-old former first lady hypothetically jumped into the fray in the New Hampshire primary due in the second week of February, she would lead the top candidates that are running in the Democratic camp at the moment -- Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

While Michelle still did not show any inclination to join an already crowded Democratic field, now Fox News host Tucker Carlson has cautioned against ruling Michelle out of the race for the 2020 race, even if the election is less than 12 months away now.

The signs according to Carlson

"If you're wondering who the Democratic nominee will be, don't bet against Michelle Obama. Last week, the former first lady issued a statement claiming she has no interest in being president, but there are signs that’s not true,” he said on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ on Monday, November 25.

What are those signs that kept Carlson guessing?

One is certainly Barack Obama’s refusal to endorse Biden as the president so far. The two men are known to share a rapport and worked together in the White House for eight years but yet the former hasn’t endorsed the ex-vice president and or even tried to convince him not to enter the race.

"If Obama had endorsed Biden, the race would be over ... Obama hasn’t endorsed Joe Biden because he doesn't want to. Why? Maybe he’s got other plans,” Carlson said. “Obama's presidential memoir was also supposed to come out this year. Now, its release has been delayed until the middle of the Democratic primaries. In other words, at exactly the moment when Democrats will be thinking deeply about how to beat Trump, America will be talking about the Obamas. Coincidence? Maybe,” his speculation continued.

Pointing out that Michelle came up with yet another book on ‘Becoming’ -- ‘Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice’ last week, Carlson said it was perhaps to facilitate her talks to the people. ‘The Democratic Party is ripping itself apart over race, and gender, and class. Michelle Obama, let's be honest, is one of the only people who could unite its warring factions,” he said, adding that the former first lady was also found by a recent poll as the most admired woman in the world and advised people to expect the unexpected.

Former Obama administration’s top adviser David Axelrod’s repeated attacks on Biden were also something that did not evade Carlson’s eyes.

The veteran also cited instances from the past when people joined the presidential race just days after saying they were not interested.

'In 2006, Barack Obama said he was not interested in 2008 election'

"One of the main lessons from Donald Trump's 2016 election is that you never really know. Unexpected things happen far more often than we imagine," Carlson said, before playing a clip of Barack Obama saying in 2006  that he wasn't planning on running for the Oval Office in 2008. "Just months after he did that, Barack Obama joined the presidential race. Three years later, almost to the day, he was inaugurated president of the United States."

Recently, Michael Bloomberg and Deval Patrick have joined the Democratic race while speculation is also on over Hillary Clinton’s third attempt. But equations in the Democratic camp could undergo a sea change if Michelle places herself in the center.
