Trump has once again sparked fury with his latest statement regarding ballots during a conference at the White House by saying they need to be gotten “rid of.” When asked about the peaceful transfer of power, he has stated that it wouldn’t happen as “there’ll be a continuation.”

When a reporter asked Trump if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses the November election, he responds saying, “Well, we’re going to have to see.” He further adds that he has been “complaining strongly about the ballots,” before calling them a “disaster.”

The POTUS has been highly critical of in-mail ballots ever since it was proposed as a means to vote amid the coronavirus pandemic. When the topic of peaceful transfer was once again brought up at the White House conference, Trump said, “We want to get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very peaceful -- there won't be a transfer, frankly. There'll be a continuation.”

“The ballots are out of control. You know it. You know who knows it better than anybody else? The Democrats know better than anybody else,” he argued. Trump’s response to committing to a peaceful transition of power has irked Democrats, as they’ve called on him for refusing to accept the election results.

Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement, “The American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House,” reports ABC News. Meanwhile, Biden said in a statement that Trump’s response “doesn’t surprise” him. “What country are we in? I'm being facetious. I said, what country are we in? Look, he says the most irrational things,” the former Vice President said, as per ABC News.

Similarly, a significant number of Democrats and commoners have slammed the president for his blatant response, while labeling him a “dictator.” Pointing at his approach to the forthcoming elections, some have opined that his actions are going to lead to undesirable consequences.

Sharing a clip of the conference at the White House, Rolling Stone's Senior Writer Jamil Smith tweeted, “Tyrannical. He doesn't care whether or not people get hurt or killed in violent unrest, just as long as he maintains his power. And the 'get rid of the ballots' remark is extraordinary, even for him. He is telling us what he plans to do, and how he'd like his supporters to react.” While one user wrote, “'Get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very peaceful - there won't be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation,' -Trump Why is he so confident he'll win if Mail in Ballots aren't counted? Maybe an inside (or outside) plan to rig the polling machines?  #TrumpCoupPlot.” Another added, “Get rid of the ballots?? You think this is Russia or Belarus? How bout we just get rid of You instead? You WILL give up power after Biden wins. You just haven't accepted it yet. #ProtectDemocracy #Election2020 #TrumpDictatorship.” One Twitter user noted, “Treason. The Constitution says votes, no more than two terms. Only a dictator would say get rid of the ballots in the USA.”
