Impeachment isn't good enough, Trump needs to be imprisoned and placed in solitary confinement, says Maxine Waters
House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, on Tuesday, said that impeaching President Donald Trump is not good enough and that he should be arrested and placed in "solitary confinement."
Waters, on Tuesday, tweeted: "I'm calling on the GOP to stop Trump's filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed. Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is imperative."
The lawmaker's comments came days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi initiated an impeachment inquiry against Trump. The inquiry was launched in the wake of a complaint lodged by a whistleblower who alleged that the president had outstepped his boundaries in a July phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky and asked for a "favor" from him to target his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. A White House transcript of the controversial phone call later confirmed that Trump had asked the foreign leader to investigate Biden, the Democratic frontrunner of the 2020 elections.
Trump later provoked media attention after he mentioned in a series of tweets suggesting that the whistleblower should face punishment for his actions.
Waters, in her tweets, also accused the president of "dog whistling to white supremacists," by tweeting a Texas pastor's quote warning that Trump's removal from office could result in a civil war.
"Trump is so irresponsible & so hugnry [sic] for power & control, he would dare imply that a civil war will ensue if he's impeached," Waters tweeted, adding that Attorney General William Barr should also face impeachment as she called him the "worst" law enforcement officer.
"AG Barr is the highest law enforcement officer & the worst," Waters said. "He's supposed to be the people’s lawyer, but he’s just Trump’s puppet. He's been caught soliciting foreign countries' help in undermining his FBI & our Intel agencies. He should be Trump’s companion w/impeachment."
Waters made the comment in reference to the Ukraine call scandal, where Trump asked the Ukrainian leader to work along with Attorney General Barr in an attempt to probe Biden.
