'Delighted' Trump was confused why his team 'wasn't as excited' with Capitol riots, labeled a 'psychopath'
On the second day of former President Donald Trump's impeachment, House manager Rep David Cicilline, (D-RI) presented a trove of information to hint at what the ex-POTUS' state of mind was on January 6, during the time his alleged supporters were storming the Capitol — an 'insurrection' that claimed the lives of five people.
"On January 6, Donald Trump did not once condemn this attack. He did not once condemn the attackers. In fact, on January 6, the only person he condemned was his own vice president, Mike Pence, who was hiding in this building with his family in fear for his life," Cicilline said. Sen Ben Sasse (R-NE), who had knowledge of the president's mood in the White House during the riot said that Trump "was delighted" and "was confused about why other people on his team weren't as excited as he was" as he walked around the White House. Senior White House officials said that Trump was "borderline enthusiastic" about the chaos that unfolded on the day because it meant that the certification process of then-President-elect Joe Biden's win in 2020 was going to b delayed in the Senate.

A screenshot of the presentation slides containing quotes from the inside sources at Trump's trial went viral after it was uploaded on Twitter by Vox reporter Aaron Rupar, sparking an array of reactions. "Damning and also really sick," one user wrote, while another said, "Basically confirming what a lot of us have been thinking about for a while now." A third noted, "I am disappointed he didn't say 'He got off on it!'" One more commented, "Call. Them. As. Witnesses." Another simply remarked. "Psychopath." The next noted, "It should mean he's got an insanity defense, but it can't. He's not crazy, just wildly above average in selfishness."
One more quipped, "If things went the way the attackers planned... if they killed or kidnapped senators and congress members... what do they think would be the outcome? That everyone would just agree to allow Trump to stay in power? Such an impossible fantasy." Another said, "We know he enjoyed the riot, it was all about his ego. These senators that think Trump is on their side should realize he would sacrifice any of them in. New York minute."
A commenter tweeted, "Is there no security video inside the White House? We deserve to see his behavior on Jan. 6. Seems like there should be. Of course Trump would have had his deleted." One more wrote, "I can’t help but think of the photo of Obama and staff watching Osama Bin Laden get taken out and they were still horrified by what the were watching. An enemy. Trump was excited during Americans being attacked by other Americans as a result to his 'call to action.'"

Cicilline also played a voicemail that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani left for Senator Tommy Tuberville, (R-AL) during the insurrection asking him to delay the certification of the Electoral College vote. "Senator Tuberville? Or should I say, coach Tuberville, this is Rudy Giuliani, the president's lawyer. I am calling you because I wanted to discuss with you how they're trying to rush this hearing and how we need you, our Republican friends to try and just slow it down," Giuliani was heard saying in the recording.
