Why was Donald Trump late to CPAC 2021? Wild theories float online: 'Didn't like hair and was busy playing golf'

'Trump being an hour late to his CPAC speech is precisely on-brand, as he didn't have much interest in working when he was president either,' said a critic of the former president

Former President Donald Trump arrived around an hour late for his reentry into the political limelight on Sunday, February 28, at the Conservative Political Action Conference. While he was due in Orlando at 3:40 pm, Fox News reported his speech would take place closer to 5 pm.

Trump's appearance was reportedly supposed to give out the message that he has continued influence over the Republican party despite some senior politicians distancing themselves recently from the ex-president. In fact, in the speech he also called out those who had voted against him and vowed to "get rid of all" the incumbents who had dared to cross him.

As soon as social media noticed that the former POTUS arrived late, they started slamming him online. Author Seth Abramson tweeted: "Trump being an hour late to his CPAC speech is precisely on-brand, as he didn't have much interest in working when he was president either." While Journalist Susan Del Percio said, "Bad news at CPAC for Trump, when asked by secret ballot, if the former president should run in 2024, he only gets 68% Maybe that's why he's late."

Another wrote, "Trump is so late to speak at Cpac but it makes sense because he’s been so busy playing golf."  While another one called him "disorganized and wrote, "Of course Trump was late he is so disorganized he could not organize a beer in a pub."

One Twitter user said, "Trump was late yesterday to CPAC to give his speech because there were so many law enforcement officers wanting to have their picture taken with him so he obliged. That is some cool..." While another one said, "Trump was 80 minutes late for his appearance at CPAC. He struggled with the teleprompter agreeing with what was on the teleprompter numerous times as if he was reading a newspaper out loud. Yet the GOP believes he's their savior. Should we tell them?"

Guessing why he was late, one Twitter user said, "My guess for why he was late to CPAC? He didn't like his hair & makeup and maniacally fussed over them until he was "satisfied". Like Fernando said, "It's better to look good than to feel good". Still, Trump was clearly stressed & the beads of sweat above his lip were obvious." While one social media user simply said, "Trump as usual very late and very orange."

After arriving what one could call 'fashionably late', the former POTUS took the stage with Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless the USA' playing in the background. He immediately hugged and air-kissed the American flag — something that he had done in his last appearance as the president. His energy had the crowd on their feet and as soon as he took the microphone, he asked his fans, "Do you miss me yet?"

And soon after during the speech, he once again repeated his false claim that he won the November election, which he lost decisively and said to the sound of thunderous applause, "Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for the third time," indicating he is gearing up to run for the presidential post again in the future.

These remarks were made by the Internet and individual organizations, MEAWW cannot confirm them independently and nor does it support these claims being made on the Internet.
