Early last week President Donald Trump threatened to impose a decade of jail time for protesters defacing and toppling statues on federal lands, citing an obscure law designed to punish vandalism at American veteran cemeteries. Not two days after that, a video emerged from Eugene, Oregon which showed a 14-year-old girl being tackled to the ground by four police officers on July 25 during a riot downtown. In a statement, Eugene police said the girl threw rocks at officers, however, the mother of the teen said her daughter kicked a trash can into the street as a police car arrived near W. 7th Ave. and Lincoln Street.

Trump then took to double down on his threats to rioters and protesters from last week, as he tweeted on July 28: "Anarchists, Agitators or Protestors who vandalize or damage our Federal Courthouse in Portland, or any Federal Buildings in any of our Cities or States, will be prosecuted under our recently re-enacted Statues & Monuments Act. MINIMUM TEN YEARS IN PRISON. Don’t do it!"

After his tweet, the video surfaced on the Internet showing the police trying to subdue the 14-year-old girl at night and using undue force on her. Clearly, the internet was in no mood to listen to anything Trump and slammed the picture of police brutality, saying:  “This girl is 14 years old. Your gestapo goons brutalized her.YOU ARE A DISGRACE." Soon the Internet was flooded with infuriated people lashing out at police brutality, White nationalism, racism and fascist forces.

Calling out fascism and police brutality

Pastor and activist Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted attacking Trump's warnings. He denounced the leader and his followers who are for showing a 'fascist' attitude. “What they should do is put on military gear, grab confederate flags, A.R. 15 rifles, swastika patches, and accost police officers and random citizens while complaining about wearing masks—That way they can be considered “very good people.”

People slammed Trump tweeting, “And your secret police who fire rubber bullets at protesters' heads and beat up and gas Navy vets who were peacefully protesting, and not vandalizing anything.......what will you do to those thugs? And still not a word about your right-wing Boogaloo Boys who murdered two cops.” Another tweeted: “Your secret military goons are beating up veterans and tear-gassing moms and disappearing protesters into unmarked vans. America is watching, horrified. the whole world is watching, horrified. you've misplayed this one badly, my dude. step out of the Fox News bubble."

Many also sought to corner the POTUS on his ineptness to save America from the coronavirus pandemic and also brought in the sorry state of the American economy, since right now US has the highest number of cases in the world and its public health infrastructure has collapsed. This has further severely impacted the economy through job losses. “You have crashed the economy, allowed 100k to die prematurely, and have divided the nation. There is no way to repair all the damage that you have done” a twitter user wrote.

Exposing White supremacy and terrorism

Another incensed social media user called out the past incidents and accused Trump of never saying a word over protesters from White communities and right-wingers. In May, White protesters stormed Michigan’s capitol to demonstrate against social distancing after which Trump called these people “very good people, but they are angry. They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal.”

Since then people are referring to this incident and many more exposing how Trump appears favored toward the Whites. Pastor Swan also tweeted: “As soon as we vote your racist derrière out of office we’ll work on making America great for the first time." Another wrote:  How to be a trump “very good people” protestor vs a trump “son of a b***h” protestor."

Calling out his “good people” remark a Twitter user posted “ Why was it OK for hundreds of protesters, and Donald Trump supporters who he called good people while carrying guns descended on the Michigan Capitol to oppose Gov. Whitmer's stay-at-home order??” Economist David Rothschild also tweeted how democratically elected governments should not negotiate with right-wing terrorists. “Right-wing, White-men going to Capital with guns to scare democratically elected government to appease right-wing demands is textbook right-wing terrorism.”
