An 18-month-old toddler has reportedly died after a full-length mirror fell on her inside one of the fashion stores at Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport.

Even though the staff at the Urban Revivo store administered first aid while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital, a spokesman for the Jewel Changi Airport confirmed to local media.

The toddler and her family, who all hailed from China, had gone to Singapore for a holiday together when the tragedy occurred. The Singapore Civil Defence Force told the press that it responded to a medical incident at the 78 Airport Boulevard at 12.33 pm on Friday, August 23, but refused to reveal any further information.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Jewel Changi Airport was quoted as saying, "We are working closely with the tenant to ascertain the details of the incident. Out of respect for the privacy of the family, we are unable to comment any further," according to a report by Strait Times

Urban Revivo, the store, also put out a press statement and expressed that they were "deeply saddened by the tragic accident". The store is reportedly helping out in any way they can with the investigation.

They are also in communication with the girl's family, and so are the airport authorities, trying to help the family through the difficult situation, added the reports.

The staff at the shop were seen asking other outlets at the airport for ice and help with first aid supplies. As of Saturday, August 24, evening, the two-storied shop still remained closed, and according to the witnesses, although the lights were on, the store's employees were nowhere in sight.

A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy's consular section was quoted as saying, "To our knowledge, the family is still in Singapore handling post-death matters. We will continue to provide assistance to the family, and will keep track of this case."

The girl's body has been collected from the morgue by the family, accompanied by the staff of Jewel Changi Airport. Singapore authorities are reportedly investigating the case as an "unnatural death".
