During his absence from the 'Today' show, Al Roker embarked on a new venture, leading to multiple ABC News anchors filling in for him. On Thursday, weekend meteorologist Angie Lassman replaced him, while Dylan Dreyer, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin were also absent from the 'Today 3rd Hour' segment. Al Roker, known for sharing snippets of his life on social media, posted a photo of a substantial breakfast platter. However, this raised speculation among his fans, who expressed concerns about the food's healthiness given his past medical issues.

In a recent ‘Today’ show, Al Roker’s absence was marked on his Instagram page as the 68-year-old shared his breakfast with his followers. The ‘Today’ anchor indulged in sausage, over-easy eggs, grits covered in butter, and a side of pancakes. He captioned the post, “Just had #breakfast at, what I’m told, is one of the best #breakfast places in #detroit the #cliquediner This is one of their lighter options”. After revealing in an Instagram video about his new exciting project that he ‘never had one before’, he was reportedly missing the ‘Today’ show for the past two days. He is currently in Detroit for a Ted Talk Connections lecture on climate change and it’s not yet confirmed when he’ll be back on the morning show.

While his fans are geared up for his new gig, they’re concerned for his health especially considering his recent several medical issues. It was reported that Roker had suffered from various health issues over the past few years including knee replacements, blood clots, and dramatic weight loss, as per The Sun. Reflecting on his recent Instagram post, fans shared their concern in comments as one fan wrote, “Omg…lighter portions…as the butter oozes out of the grits! Have a safe trip.
