'Dr Pimple Popper: This Is Zit': Release date, plot and all you need to know about the skin transformation show on Discovery+

The TLC hit ‘Dr Pimple Popper’ will have an exclusive series taking fans behind the scenes of dermatologist Dr Sandra Lee's work with spin-off show ‘Dr Pimple Popper: This Is Zit’. 

The all-new Discovery+ is coming up with a bunch of new and exclusive shows, including spin-offs of popular fan-favorite reality series. Discovery+ will have more than 50 original shows and over 150 hours of exclusive content, and the plan is to have over 1,000 hours of exclusive content by the end of 2021.

"Our launch slate represents an ambitious start for discovery+, cementing our position as the leader in non-fiction, real-life entertainment,” Lisa Holme, Group SVP of Content and Commercial Strategy for Discovery, Inc., said in a statement. "We can’t wait for January 4, when we will give fans even more of the shows and stars they love. But we’re even more excited to surpass expectations on streaming by mixing genres in new ways, digging even deeper in the documentary space, and introducing fans to their new favorite personalities.”

Release date

‘Dr Pimple Popper: This Is Zit’ will be available when the new streaming platform launches on Monday, January 4.

Plot

In the spin-off show, Dr Lee will share "all the gory details behind some of her most difficult pops," according to Discovery. "Watch intimate excavation videos of blackheads so big and cysts so goopy, they have to be seen to be believed," reads the show's description. 

The name ‘This Is Zit' should sound familiar to longtime ‘Pimple Popper’ fans, as a version of the spin-off was originally available exclusively on TLC's website and the show's Facebook page. 

Cast

Sandra Siew Pin Lee was born in the Flushing section of Queens, New York City, on December 20, 1970, to Chinese parents; her father, a retired dermatologist, is Chinese Singaporean while her mother is Malaysian Chinese. Lee attended UCLA as an undergraduate student. During this time, she worked part-time as a medical assistant for an allergist in Downtown Los Angeles. After her graduation from UCLA, Lee attended medical school at the Drexel University College of Medicine and graduated in 1998. She completed her internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Lee completed her dermatology residency at Southern Illinois University. 

Lee now lives in Upland, California with her husband, Dr. Jeffrey C. Rebish (married May 28, 2000), and currently works at Skin Physicians & Surgeons. Also known as Dr Pimple Popper, Lee is an American dermatologist, she is known for her online videos and her TV series Dr Pimple Popper.
