Update: The identity of the Uvalde cop who was seen calmly using hand sanitizer as Salvador Ramos slaughtered children has been revealed. Uvalde County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Gonzales, 30, is the man seen in the video using hand sanitizer as the gunman went about his carnage.

In the video, Gonzales was seen wearing a helmet and bulletproof vest over his checkered shirt. As the shooting continues, he can be seen pressing the hand sanitizer lid from a wall-mounted dispenser and rubbing it on his hands. His actions brought about a lot of backlash for the Uvalde police who were seen waiting in the corridors instead of engaging and trying to stop Ramos.

UVALDE, TEXAS: Authorities faced quite the backlash after recent footage from the Uvalde school shooting revealed shocking inaction by officers that included a hand sanitizer break, a fist bump, and a hug between officers. The Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV shared shocking video footage from the law enforcement response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24.

It was the day that 18-year-old Salvador Ramos fatally shot nineteen students and two teachers and wounded seventeen other people. The video, which was edited to remove children's screams, is reportedly the first to be released to the public in defiance of the Uvalde County district attorney’s orders to contain it. State Rep Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, had vowed to make the footage public Sunday afternoon, July 10, giving an opportunity to families and the Uvalde community to see it first.

The gunman, now identified as Ramos, is seen on surveillance footage entering the school through a side door, armed with an assault-style rifle and wearing what appears to be a vest or backpack. He is seen walking toward the camera before turning right and walking towards Classrooms 111 and 112. A child is seen entering the frame and walking toward the intersection of hallways. Ramos, who is several yards away, waits as the child pauses to peer around the corner. Shots are fired when the child starts running. Ramos is seen firing randomly into a doorway at the end of the hallway. He subsequently turns left and walks into a classroom before a dozen bursts of gunfire are heard over the course of two minutes.

11:36 am

The first group of law enforcement responders is seen entering the frame. Another group appears to enter the building on the opposite side of the hallway. A burst of gunfire is heard about a minute later, prompting the officers to scatter to opposite ends of the hallway.

11:52 am

A ballistic shield is brought into the scene. A group of officers is seen standing behind the shield with their guns pointed at the classroom for about half an hour.

12:21 pm

Responding officers finally begin moving down the hallway toward Ramos, about 45 minutes after they first entered the school building. Several groups of officers are gathered at the end of the hallway near the camera. An officer says at one point, "They're making an entry" but it's unclear to whom he is referring. Officers are seen walking to and from the middle of the hallway over the next several minutes, but no one proceeds toward the classroom.

12:30 pm

Two officers are seen sharing a brief hug at the end of the hallway. One of them is seen seconds later getting hand sanitizer from a dispenser mounted on the hallway wall.

12:41 pm

Two officers wearing camouflage are seen fist-bumping each other.

Another burst of gunfire is heard from the classroom, prompting several officers to move toward the hallway. However, the man in the surgical gloves is seen holding up his hands and telling officers not to proceed. Instead, he repeatedly instructs officers to stay back as overlapping screams are heard, Dallas News reported.
