Puberty, it has been said, is everyone's first experience of a sentient madness. ‘This Is Us’ may deal with that and more — especially in the flashbacks with Jack, Rebecca and the kids and also in the present time with Randall, Beth and his girls.

A new promo dives deep into the new morning routine at Randall Pearson's (Sterling K. Brown) house during weekdays. On the breakfast table before their online school schedule, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) enters with freshly baked pancakes and says she “put her foot up in it!” Apart from Annie (Faithe Herman), none of them are too keen or appreciative. Deja (Lyric Ross) and Tess (Eris Baker) are not inspired to join their little sister.

Ignoring others while staring intently at her phone, Deja says she decided to eat cereal for the first meal of the day. Tess gives a thumbs down too. When Randall enters the room to talk to his wife, Tess is about to leave and Beth notices she hardly ate anything. “You refuse to use cage-free eggs,” Tess complains about the ingredients in Beth’s pancakes. Then she adds, “I had some yogurt. I’m good.” A defeated Beth tells Randall: “That girl is killing me three times a day.”

In another promo, Beth yells at Tess for posting a crass clip on social media. She strongly tells her: “You DO NOT post a profane video for the world to see.” It is normal for little kids to take things into their own hands and feel what they're doing is the best. However, where can parents draw a line? The new episode will talk about that and has many fans intrigued about what she really posted online.

One viewer posted, “#ThisIsUs preview implying that Tess is going to get into some trouble for doing something stupid online, like. can y'all writers leave that poor Gayby alone? can you let her live? she has to deal with being gay and having anxiety and being a teenager, can ya'll let my girl Rest?” Another said, “Tonight's episode takes place on August 31, 2020. Tess was born on October 31, 2008. What kind of videos is this child posting at age 11? She's 11 unless her year of birth changed. #ThisIsUs.”

In an unconnected tweet, one fan said, “Someway, somehow I believe Tess will be the one to bring Kevin & Randall back. Tess is definitely going to be going through a lot probably & Kevin has always been there for her. #ThisIsUs.”

Back in 2019, in an exclusive interview with MEAWW, Eris Baker spilled the beans on her take on Randall and Kevin's fight saying, “I think Tess is probably too young to understand the situation. But she does have a really close connection with her grandmother and I think that sending her away will probably break her heart. But it's also the best for her health, so I think she will understand.”

What will Tess' reaction be if she is reprimanded by her parents for the video? Will she rebel against them? How will Randall and Beth handle that situation? As the new episode rolls out, it may answer all of those questions. Titled ‘Changes’, the summary of the next episode reads: “Kevin and Madison navigate their engagement as Kate and Toby take a big step in their adoption journey. Jack and Rebecca brace for puberty.”

After the two-hour episode of 'This Is Us' premiered on Tuesday, October 27, at 9 pm ET on NBC, catch the one-hour episode ‘Changes’ from 9 pm ET to 10 pm ET on Tuesday, November 10.
