LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's 'The Witcher' Season 3 is only days away from finally dropping on our screens. Fans are particularly emotional about this season because it is Henry Cavill's final outing as Geralt of Rivia. Viewers have utterly loved the character so far and do not want Cavill to leave.

Cavill not only perfectly embodied the spirit and grit of Geralt but also showed extreme dedication toward creating and maintaining the right physique for the role. That said, Cavill nearly ended his own action career by injuring himself on the sets of 'The Witcher' Season 2.

How was Henry Cavill injured?

As captivating as Cavill's portrayal of Geralt was, he suffered a nasty injury on the sets of 'The Witcher' Season 2. Apparently, the actor had to constantly sprint through the woods during filming, leading to a painful hamstring tear. CinemaBlend reported Cavill saying, "It was a very, very bad tear, and I was very lucky that it wasn't a complete detachment of the hamstring."

The incident even caught the eye of showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who claimed that she saw Cavill in extreme pain. She said, "I went to his trailer and he said he was in a great amount of pain." However, the producers were very understanding of Cavill's situation and accommodated him properly to ensure that he did not have to undergo too much pressure. Nevertheless, it was still an uphill task for the actor to power through the pain and perform. "Because I wanted to do more for the production -- I know how important it was for them to get stuff done. So it was having to find that balance between, 'Yes, let's push, push, push,' and, 'Whoa, hold on, if I tear this further, it's the end of my action career.' That was my worst moment of the past year -- professionally."

Hype around 'The Witcher' Season 3

While Season 3 of the hit Netflix series will mark Cavill's departure from the show, it will also set the ground for the entry of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in Season 4. Fans are both upset over Cavill's exit and unhappy with the recasting. Liam Hemsworth has been subjected to countless jokes and mockery online after he was finalized as Cavill's replacement. 'The Witcher' Season 3 Volume 1 starts streaming on June 29, 2023.
