'The Walking Dead' spoilers: Three returning characters confirmed and more deaths in the pipeline
Showrunner Angela Kang had confirmed his return, however, Scott Wilson passed away shortly after the announcement at the age of 76 owing to complications arising from leukemia.
'The Walking Dead' star Andrew Lincoln announced in July about him leaving the show after being a part of the series for eight years, but we do not know when that will be or how that will be. All we know is that, as of now, his character Rick Grimes survived another week. We will have to bear with this mystery until it actually happens.
While Rick's character will make an exit sometime soon, showrunner Angela Kang confirmed at the New York Comic Con 2018 of bringing back former characters to the show. Angela said, "We were trying to lie, but we want to confirm that Jon Bernthal is coming back."
Angela also confirmed the return of Sasha Williams, who plays the character of Sonequa Martin-Green. Another actor who was coming back to the show was Scott Wilson who played the character of Hershel Greene, the father of Maggie Greene, played by Lauren Cohan between 2011 and 2014. His character was killed off at the end of season four. Angela had confirmed his return, however, Scott passed away shortly after the announcement owing to leukemia.
AMC paid tribute to the actor ahead of the season nine premiere and the statement read: "Scott will be remembered as a great actor and an even better person. The character he embodied on 'The Walking Dead', Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show."
As we wait for Lincoln's exit, the writers are distracting the fans from some bloody deaths at the beginning of the season. Gregory, played by Xander Berkeley botched an attempt to assassinate Maggie. Maggie took revenge in the form of publicly hanging Gregory, as she realizes her political rivals were behind her failed assassination.
This scene was brutal in particular.
