'The Voice' Season 24: Niall Horan blamed for Alexa Wildish's exit as fans believe John Legend was better fit for contestant
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Niall Horan had to make the painful choice of reducing his six-person team to only three aspiring singers during 'The Playoffs Premiere' on NBC's 'The Voice' on November 21.
Fans believe Alexa Wildish, one of Team Niall's three evicted artists, was the most robbed in the 'The Voice' Playoffs.
During the playoffs, coaches must reduce their teams from six to three participants. Alexa was one of the participants vying for a position in the singing competition. Niall put the hopeful on the spot by performing Sting's 'Fields of Gold.'
Alexa headed to the main stage with some notes. She took center stage, bathed in a magnificent, warm gold glow.
Alexa, like other performers earlier in the night, avoided flamboyant stage moves in favor of focusing on her voice and words.
Reba McEntire, Niall's fellow coach, was the first to provide feedback, saying, "That was a great performance, I love your voice, I heard every word you were singing."
Reba added a personal touch, saying, "Mama was a big stickler for enunciations."
The country veteran understood Niall's dilemma in deciding which of his contestants to proceed with.
Niall, like his co-coaches, lavished praise on Alexa, praising her ability to stand out from others on his squad who offer strong, "belting" voices. He summed it up by calling the vocalist "ridiculously talented" and boldly stating that the rest of the world will see it one day.
At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Huntley, Nini Iris and Mara Justine will represent Team Niall in the next round of competition. Alexa was defeated.
On X, angry fans wrote, "Alexa deserved to go to the top 12 she was the best out of everyone this season by far."
Another person chimed in, "How is Alexa not going to the live show??? @NiallOfficial I AM SO UPSET!!!!!!!"

Writing to Niall, another viewer added, "You made the wrong decision by sending home Alexa she would of won this season and I know that many people agree @NiallOfficial."
A fourth person noted, "Niall, really disappointed you did not pick Alexa. That girl can sing and emote a grocery list. I love you but you picked three very similar artists. This is the first questionable decision you've made, I must say. I don't think Mara deserved the spot more than her."

On Reddit, fans felt Alexa could have gone more into the competition with the help of John Legend, "Yeah a John and Alexa pairing would be very intriguing. It would be interesting to see what else he could bring out of her since he’s such a phenomenal singer."
Another person agreed saying, "I would have loved to see Alexa on team Legend, I think he would really connect with her performance style."
Alexa Wildish's journey in 'The Voice' Season 24
Alexa had a four-chair turn in the blind auditions for her performance of 'Songbird,' and she joined Team Niall. She then defeated Lvndr in the 'Everything I Wanted' duet.
In the knockouts, she performed 'Believe' and defeated both Julia Roome and Lennon VanderDoes. Alexa's final song on the program was 'Fields of Gold' in the playoffs.
Who is Alexa Wildish in 'The Voice' Season 24?
Alexa was raised in a musical household, and her father's enthusiasm for collecting vintage guitars influenced her interest in acoustic stringed instruments, which led to her learning to play guitar and octave mandolin.
When Alexa was 17, she watched the Wailin' Jennys play at a festival and fell in love with the Americana music movement.
When a member of that band performed harmonies on Alexa's debut EP in 2018, life came full circle.
Alexa began couchsurfing a few years later and truly wanted to experience living in a mobile home/tour van.
A buddy loaned her his fully stocked van, and Alexa spent the next few months living out of it and going wherever her next job took her.
'The Voice' Season 24 airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET and Tuesdays at 9 pm ET on NBC
