‘The Voice’ Preview: Here's what to expect from next episode as 17 contestants fight for Top 9 slots in playoffs

The next episode will focus on the vote-outs as viewers will have only 24 hours to pick their favorite

‘The Voice’ Season 19 got its Top 17 contestants in Episode 12 of the singing reality show after viewers witnessed much drama in the previous episode. Taryn Papa from Blake Shelton’s team was crowned as the winner of the four-way knockout performance in the newest episode after scoring the maximum votes. However, the fan-favorite Ryan Gallagher, who was considered as one of the top contenders from Day 1, exited the show in the middle. The reason for the same was not revealed but he will no longer be part of the competition. Fans did not seem elated with Taryn winning the knockouts as they wanted Ryan to move to the next round.

Highlights from playoffs premiere

With 17 contestants in place, the live playoffs finally kick-started in the latest episode. The singers from all the respective teams hit the stage with their solo performances with an intention to woo the audience as it is now up to them to pick the Top 9 slots for the semifinals with their valuable vote. Out of the 17 contestants, singers like the Desz and Tanner Gomes from Team Kelly gave a perfect start to the play-offs, whereas, Joseph Soul and Carter Rubin from Team Gwen also got thumbs up from the Internet.  Singers like Tamara Jade and John Holiday from John Legend’s team looked promising while Team Blake’s Ian Flanigan and Sid Kingsley left everybody stunned with their jaw-dropping performances.

What to expect from the next episode

In Episode 12, we saw all the 17 contestants giving their best shot to fight to for the Top 9 slots, therefore, the next episode will focus on the vote-outs as viewers will have only 24 hours to pick their favorite. The judges will choose one more artist to steer ahead in the next round and the singer with the next highest votes from each team will compete in the wildcard instant save for the top nine’s last spot.

Current team standings

Team Kelly stands strong with contestants namely Desz, Madeline Consoer, Tanner Gomes, and Cami Clune. Team Gwen currently has Payge Turner, Ben Allen, Joseph Soul and the young lad Carter Rubin. Tamara Jade, Bailey Rae, Chloe Hogan, and John Holiday are currently part of John Legend’s team. Blake Shelton’s team members include the mother-daughter trio Worth the Wait, Sid Kingsley, Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan.  

‘The Voice’ Season 19 is being hosted by Carson Daly. All the episodes will be aired on NBC, every Monday and Tuesday. Fans can also catch the singing reality show on the official website of NBC and on their official app along with the network's new streaming service Peacock.
