‘The Voice’ Season 19: Lesbian singer Marisa Corvo chooses Team Kelly, fans say ‘we stan a gay queen’
Dressed in a pink coat, ‘The Voice’ Season 19 contestant Marisa Corvo crooned singer P!nk’s hit single ‘Perfect’ during the blind auditions on the premiere episode of the singing reality show. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were the first ones to press the buzzers and turn around their chairs followed by Kelly Clarkson. John Legend did not seem impressed with the 33-year-old singer’s rendition of P!nk’s song.
Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani even gave a standing ovation to Marisa where the former also praised the contestant and said, “You have a range for days. I would be shocked if you weren’t in the finale. You have an insanely vague voice.” Gwen also did not shy away from praising the singer’s well-groomed voice. Interestingly, a lot of the conversation also revolved around tomatoes, pasta and sauce after it was revealed that Gwen and Marisa both have Italian backgrounds. Since Marisa got three chairs turned around, she finally went with #TeamKelly to continue her journey this season.
The intro package of Marisa also revealed that she is a lesbian. Before hitting the stage she mentions that her parents had been so appalled to learn that she was a lesbian, they’d tried to have her religiously straightened out. Marisa Corvo got thumbs up from the world of Internet for coming out as a lesbian. A lot of viewers took to Twitter to express the same. One user said, “THE GAYS ARE WINNING TONIGHT #TheVoice” Another stated, “Wow! I'm in LOVE with Marisa Corvo!! #TheVoice #VoicePremiere She's Perfect!” One went in the other direction and posted, “#TheVoice Why do ALL these shows like The Voice or American Idol ALWAYS have to have at least 1 contestant whose “back story” is all re: how difficult it was coming out /growing up gay. Nobody cares - and NOBODY wants to hear your gory gay life details. NOBODY CARES!!” Another added, “WE STAN A GAY QUEEN #TheVoice”

Apart from the singing skills of the contestants, fans will also notice a few changes in the show due to the unfortunate global pandemic. The coaches sit farther apart and host Carson Daly will also keep his distance. ‘The Voice’ Season 19 premiere episodes will be aired on NBC. Fans can also catch the singing reality show on the official website of NBC and on their official app along with the network's new streaming service Peacock.
Todd Tilghman was announced as the last season's winner from Team Blake at the age of 42 making him the oldest winner in the series history, a record previously held by Josh Kaufman.
