Even before Larriah Jackson and Carter Rubin began their performance at the battle round of 'The Voice', their coach Gwen Stefani knew that she had her job cut out for her. The two young contestants got help from Julia Michaels during their rehearsals as they prepared for their big performance to John Legend and Meghan Trainor's track 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You'.

Although 15-year-old Larriah managed to get only one chair turn during the blind auditions, she didn't falter even a bit while performing against fellow contestant Carter Rubin, who had coaches John and Gwen fighting fiercely over him. During the rehearsals, Larriah managed to instantly impress Julia with her soulful voice. Julia was so intrigued by the sadness she sensed in Larriah's voice that she couldn't help but ask her what her story was.

Larriah then revealed that her biological father abandoned their family at a very young age but her stepfather stepped in and treated her like his own daughter and was always there for her. While Larriah's vocals captivated Julia, Carter's notes left her impressed. Julia was awestruck by Carter's talent and wondered how much more skillful he would be by the time he reached her age.

During the battle round, both contestants perfectly complemented each other's performance. They both gave such an impressive performance that the other coaches were glad that they weren't in Gwen's shoes and had to pick one of them as the winner. Almost all the coaches chose Larriah as their winner, due to her griping voice but also heaped praises upon Carter. When it was finally Gwen's turn, she was spoilt for choice and couldn't decide who the winner was.

After some deliberation, she finally picked Carter as the winner, because of his unique voice and stage presence. Larriah thanked Gwen for coaching her and helping her discover her talent. Just as she was leaving the stage, Gwen shocked everyone by deciding to save Larriah and hitting the save button. Everybody was left feeling pleasantly surprised and glad to see that Larriah would continue her journey on the show.

A fan tweeted, "Don't ever give up ! But you were tremendous. I would not steal but Gwen didn't let you go!@Larriah4! #TheVoice." "IM SO GLAD GWEN SAVED HER SO SO HAPPY #TheVoice," wrote a fan. Another fan expressed, "Well, this is not a battle, this is a pure duet and an AMAZING MOMENT Larriah and Carter #TheVoice #VoiceBattles #TeamGwen."

Another fan commented, "They tripping on #TheVoice again tonight... why do I keep turning back to this & torturing myself?? Larriah straight killed that!!! How the heck did Kelly or John not snatch her up & Save her for themselves!!? These guys need hearing tests... Larriah.. WOW!"
