'The Voice' season 17: Blake Shelton seems to be losing his mojo after Kelly Clarkson steals country singer Brennan Lassiter from him
Brennan Lassiter is surely the sunshine all four coaches wanted to be in their team when 'The Voice' season 17 premiered on Monday night. But who did this country singer choose?
'The Voice' season 17 premiered on Monday night, and while most contestants stood out, there was one particular contestant who had the coaches battling it out for her to pick them.
Twenty-year-old Brennan Lassiter from Dacusville, SC, received a four-chair turn from the judges and brought them to their feet with her jaw-dropping country rendition of 'You Are My Sunshine'. Brennan who was raised by her grandparents performed this song as a tribute to them. After her performance, Brennan had all four coaches - John Legend, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani - battling it out for a chance to have her on their team.
While it was an easy shot for Shelton because of him being in the same genre, Clarkson didn't give up. She battled against Shelton, not just for her, but for Legend and Stefani as well. "All I'm saying is give us a chance. This is me begging, for the three of us," pleaded Clarkson. Clarkson also tried to convince Brennan to join her team, talking about season 15 winner Chevel Shepherd who was from her team. Shepherd is also a country singer, who picked Clarkson and ended up winning the season and is currently working on her record.
Stefani, on the other hand, pleaded to her boyfriend to let him let Brennan join her team. But it wasn't in Shelton's hands, it was in the hands of Brennan. While many assumed she would pick Shelton to be her coach, Brennan shocked everyone by picking Clarkson over country singer Shelton.
Finally, Kelly's endless convincing efforts paid off, and she got Brennan on her team. This makes us wonder if Blake is losing his country mojo? Or his overall mojo? Because despite his usual tricks and efforts to convince the contestants to choose him, the singers seem to be choosing either Stefani or Clarkson. Shelton was even blocked by his girlfriend Stefani when he turned his chair for Kyndal Inskeep.
But now it's too early to predict because this is Shelton after all, he has his ways of creating a perfect team and bringing them all the way through. He has won the series six times, making him the coach with the most wins.
