'The Voice' Season 17 finale: Jake Hoot's original song 'Better Off Without You' has fans raving about the melody

Jake was the only finalist this season who wrote his own song. The coaches and audience enjoyed his performance.

Jake Hoot performed his original song, 'Better Off Without You', during 'The Voice' Season 17 finale and fans can't help but rave about it. 

'The Voice' Season 17 has finally arrived with its grand finale. One lucky contestant amongst the Top 4 will walk away as the title winner this season. This is the first time in seven seasons that each coach has a contestant representing their team. The finalists are Rose Short from Team Gwen, Jake Hoot from Team Kelly, Ricky Duran from Team Blake and Katie Kadan from Team Legend. 

Tonight the contestants will perform a solo song, an original song, and a holiday special song with their respective coaches. The second contestant to perform was Jake Hoot from Team Kelly, who has been a frontrunner this season. He performed his original song, titled 'Better Off Without You'.

The song is about his divorce. He was the only finalist this season who wrote his own song. The coaches and audience enjoyed his performance. The audience couldn't help but chant his name throughout his performance.

After his performance, Kelly shared that Jake is a “humble human” and a “great writer". Taking to Twitter after Jake's performance fans could not help but rave about his performance, with a few claiming his performance was better than Ricky Duran's. 

"What a cool song Jake hoot sang...such an awesome melody! #TheVoice," a fan wrote.

Another said, "I’ve been pretty indifferent about @jakehootmusic throughout this season, but tonight I became a fan. Great performance by Jake Hoot, and at the perfect time too! There’s no better time to shine than in the #VoiceFinale! #TheVoice." 

"Ricky was good but Jake kicked his butt. Great job Jake#TheVoice," a fan shared while another said, "Jake Hoot is the next Ronnie Dunn #TheVoice." 

Adding to that another fan shared, "Jake Hoot sounds like a perfect combination of Ronnie Dunn and Garth Brooks. #TheVoice."
