Fans say John Legend on 'The Voice' season 16 is the best thing that could have happened to the show

Legend performed his new single, 'Preach' on the show. Following that fans took to Reddit to reveal how he is the greatest thing that has happened to the show in a long time.

'The Voice' might be facing backlash from fans due to its 'Live Cross Battles' that aired this week but they are surely grateful for one particular coach and that is none other than John Legend.

'The Voice' is known for its innovation, and new additions every season. Just like always, recently the series revealed they were adding a new segment to the series. The 'Live Cross Battles' was the new segment replaced the regular knockout rounds. During the 'Live Cross Battles' coaches – Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – went head-to-head, each selecting one artist from their team to compete against an artist from an opposing team.

After airing the first episode of the 'Live Cross Battles' fans said they weren't in favor of the new addition because of its sound issues and voting system that let them vote for any contestant and not just the ones who battled against each other. Apart from that, there was one coach who stole the show during the 'Live Cross Battle' and that was John Legend.

He performed his new single, 'Preach' on the show. Following that fans took to Reddit to reveal how he is the greatest thing that has happened to the show in a long time. This is Legend's first time appearing as a coach on 'The Voice'. Legend replaced Jennifer Hudson who was one among the coaches last season.

Fans revealed that they think he is the greatest thing that has happened to the series because of the insights he shares with the contestants and his energy. "John Legend is the greatest thing to happen to this show, ever. And he is absolutely adorable," wrote a fan on Reddit.

Adding to that another fan said, "I’ve been loving John! Every episode my dad says 'I bet John Legend is the coolest person ever'." Some fans also spoke about his performance of 'Preach' during the 'Live Cross Battles'. "He literally just makes me smile the entire time he’s talking. AND CAN WE DISCUSS HIS DANCING?!? I was expecting him to be so serious I’m soooo pleasantly surprised." said a fan.

While fans were cheering on Legend for being a great addition to the team of coaches this season, some stated that though he is a good coach, his team selection for this season was poor. "I like John and think he is the best coach they have picked in a while. I think his team selection has been poor though. Anyone agree?."

'The Voice' season 16 airs every Monday and Tuesday on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
