'The View' host Joy Behar boos Ron DeSantis as Whoopi Goldberg compares him to Penguin from 'Batman'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORJ: On Thursday, ‘The View’ panel discussed Florida Governor and GOP candidate Ron DeSantis’ recent interview with ABC News, where he briefly spoke about former President Donald Trump.
As Whoopi Goldberg, who moderated the segment, introduced the topic to her co-hosts, the mockery targeted toward DeSantis began. In fact, Joy Behar even booed the Florida governor on-air.
In this particular segment, Goldberg also compared DeSantis to a character from ‘Batman’ and it certainly wasn’t the superhero or even Robin but, in fact, Penguin.
Ron DeSantis talks about Trump in ABC interview
Whoopi Goldberg started by introducing Ron DeSantis’ recent interview, “Also going on in the world, Florida Governor…” Before she could finish, the audience and the co-hosts burst into laughter.
Goldberg flipped her hair back a little and continued, “Ron DeSantis interviewed,” this time, Goldberg was the one who couldn’t stop laughing as she apologized for the pause. Behar asked if she “burped.” Goldberg responded, “No…no, I’m just giggling.”
Goldberg continued, “No, I'm giggling because he has an interview with ABC News Live Prime Anchor Linsey Davis and took on you-know-who, yeah, right, and other candidates, but we have a clip. Here's the clip.”
‘The View’ showcased a glimpse of DeSantis’ interview where he spoke about Donald Trump, “He claimed to be pro-life. For him to then attack people like Iowa, South Carolina, Florida, and all these other states, I thought was a big mistake. But, look, I mean, I think he's taking positions that I think are different from what he took in 2015.”
DeSantis also briefly spoke about the military and slavery and, as soon as the clip ended, Joy Behar booed him. The audience also joined Behar in booing DeSantis.
Whoopi Goldberg compares Ron DeSantis to ‘Batman’ character
Sunny Hostin was the first to chime in as Goldberg gathered her thoughts. Hostin said, “He is lying,” with reference to his interview.
Once Goldberg had gathered her thoughts, she compared Ron DeSantis to a character from ‘Batman’, saying, “I just need to…it's just…you know what he's like, do you remember the Penguin on ‘Batman’. Burgess Meredith.”
She then imitated the character, “He had that long [hinting at the character's beak-like nose] and he talked like this the whole time. Quack, quack, quack. Little hands, hey. Quack.”
