'The View' hosts say Michael Bloomberg most likely candidate to beat Trump in 2020 election: 'He’s sort of like the adult in the room'

Michael Bloomberg has already garnered support from the women of 'The View' for his emerging presidential campaign. The hosts of the daytime talk show discussed Bloomberg's 2020 bid on Monday morning, just a day after its launch, and the majority of them threw their support behind the former New York City mayor, with the exception of Meghan McCain.

Abby Huntsman, a supposedly conservative co-host on the show, appeared to be most in favor of the billionaire's campaign. According to her, if Bloomberg can get over his “charisma problem,” he is “more likely to beat Trump than anyone else on that stage right now.”

“He’s sort of like the adult in the room," Huntsman said.

Whoopi Goldberg was the first to express her support for Bloomberg's campaign. “I think it’s a great idea," she said. "If people come in with great ideas and they have something to say, you should hear it.”

Joy Behar agreed with Goldberg. According to her, Bloomberg is a different kind of candidate when compared with Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders.

“He’s a fiscal conservative, and he’s a social liberal,” said Behar. “He puts his money where his mouth is.”

Behar then proceeded to list Bloomberg's accomplishments as New York City mayor, a position he served for three terms. “He’s a real billionaire, whereas Trump…” she quipped.

Meanwhile, Huntsman opined that Bloomberg “has a charisma problem" -- but added she was confident he would overcome it in the near future.

“He’s had people that have been punching the numbers on how he can get to the nomination for a very long time. So clearly they believe there is some sort of a pathway there,” she said. “He’s got more money than Trump. He’s got the same ego as Trump. And frankly, I think he’s actually more likely to beat Trump than anyone else on that stage right now, in my opinion. If it were up to the two of them, I think he would have a better shot — certainly more than a Sanders.”

Furthermore, Huntsman claimed Bloomberg was "more pragmatic" than many other Democratic hopefuls, something she admitted would help him appeal to conservatives. “If you listen to him and you hear the things he’s saying, he’s sort of like the adult in the room,” she said.

However, McCain wasn't convinced about Bloomberg's presidential bid.

“He spent $37 million on TV ads, which officially broke Hillary Clinton’s record — which was $33 million — over the weekend,” said McCain. “And by the way, that ad, is fine. If you’re going to spend that kind of money, I hope it’s the ad that will blow my mind away. It’s fine. It looks like an ad that could’ve been running 10 years ago.”

McCain, who is also supposed to be a conservative co-host, agreed with Sanders' complaint that Bloomberg was "buying" the 2020 election.

“He’s creating a lot of waves with Democratic candidates like Bernie Sanders — the idea that you are going to buy into the presidential race,” she said. “Which was my huge problem with Tom Steyer.”

McCain also pointed out the issue of the "media picking the candidates."

“Mike Bloomberg has huge name recognition. He has a crap ton of money,” she said. “The fact that he’s getting more media attention when he hasn’t done anything yet than these candidates who have been working really hard, I don’t like it.”
