'The Unicorn' Season 2 Episode 1: Who is Wade's mystery woman and how will he win her over?
Right at the end of its debut season, widower and father-of-two, Wade from CBS' 'The Unicorn' had finally found a potential partner in what would become popular in the fandom as the 'skunk lady'. Wade had met the woman outside the cemetery, in a parking lot, where she was trying to help an injured skunk. Wade came to her rescue, but before they could interact much, she got sprayed by the skunk and she had to drive away to the vet. That was that, and the next thing we know Dave was smitten with this gorgeous, kind, compassionate woman trying to help a skunk of all things and as we tail into Season 2, a large part of Dave's journey continues to be seeking his perfect woman, and for the most part, he is successful.
The episode opens with Wade, Ben and Forrest determined to help him find the mystery woman. They arrive at the vet's hoping for leads in what looks like borderline creepy behavior, and when there's nothing there, they check out four other vets in the hopes of finding this woman. Michelle thinks this is all very rom-com style, while Delia is the one to note the stalker vibe of it all, but trust Ben to keep it real by busting Wade's claims of knowing all about this woman, reminding him he knows everything except who she is and how to find her!
Things get interesting when Wade is at lunch with Michelle and Delia and steps out of the diner for a bit, only for the chef to come over to their table right then and who would she be but the mystery woman! Wade even brushes past her without so much as a double-check, and when the show skips to a month later, he is yet to find her out. Wade still frequents elementary schools looking for his skunk lady and loos like his creepiness pays off because, during one of his escapades, she does run into him!
The encounter is all kinds of hilarious as Wade had managed to creep out the woman with his lurking, but all's well in the end when he excuses himself from the awkward chat and is soon greeted by her, later, at his very own door. This is when we finally learn the name of the woman - Shannon, who also admits to having been thinking a lot about Wade. It's written in the stars, isn't it? He asks her if he can call her, she answers in the affirmative before leaving Wade's place, and this is when he realizes he never asked for her number. Just your regular playboy, no big deal.
The official promo for Season 2 does tease Wade at a dinner with Shannon and things seem to be going find until his marriage comes up and it looks like he had never come clean about his marital status. Will that snap off things with the mysterious skunk lady before they can even properly begin? Find out next Thursday at 9:30 pm on CBS.
