Netflix is set to enthrall viewers with its upcoming series ‘The Serpent’ starring Tahar Rahim as the notorious serial killer Charles Shobhraj. The show, which was first commissioned by BBC, is based on a true story and follows the life of Charles Shobhraj. The series will follow Charles (Tahar Rahim) and his girlfriend as they commit a series of crimes across India, Nepal, and Thailand. However, their lives take a U-turn when they become chief suspects in a series of murders.

Shobhraj, who was popularly known as the Bikini Killer, committed at least a dozen of murders between 1975 and 1976 and was given the title of “The Serpent” for using cunning techniques to dodge authorities.

Golden Globe-nominated actor Tahar Rahim will mesmerize the viewers with his gritty portrayal of the serial killer while Jenna Coleman will be playing his girlfriend, Marie-Andrée Leclerc, on the show.

Tahar Rahim as Charles Shobhraj

Rahim is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors in the industry right and has given many phenomenal performances over the years. The actor began his acting career in 2007 with the movie ‘Inside’. However, his moment of glory came in 2008 when he was cast in the movie ‘A Prophet’.

The movie turned out to be a gigantic success for him and was even nominated in the Best Foreign-Language Film category at the Academy Awards. Rahim won the Best Actor trophy at the prestigious Cesar Awards for ‘A Prophet’.

The actor has been a part of many critically-acclaimed movies such as ‘The Informant’, ‘The Past’ and ‘Mary Magdalene’.

Recently, the actor was seen in the movie ‘The Mauritanian’ alongside Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Shailene Woodley. Rahim gave a knockout performance and received Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards.

Jenna Coleman as Marie-Andrée Leclerc

Born on April 27, 1986, Jenna-Louise Coleman is an accomplished British actress who is known for her role in the TV series ‘Emmerdale’. Coleman always wanted to be an actress and even turned down the offer to study at the University of York to pursue her acting career.

Coleman landed the part of Jasmine Thomas in ‘Emmerdale’ in 2005. The actress garnered universal acclaim for her acting and received a nomination in the Most Popular Newcomer category at the National Television Awards (UK).

In 2011, she made her feature film in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and portrayed the character of Connie. Meanwhile, in 2019, she gave one of her finest performances in the TV show ‘The Cry’. Her performance as Joanna Lindsay made her earn nominations at the International Emmy Awards, BAFTA Scotland Awards, and AACTA Awards.

Billy Howle as Herman Knippenberg

Howle made his acting debut in 2014 with the TV series ‘Glue’. The actor earned positive reviews for his acting and made him popular. He has also made appearances in projects like ‘The Seagull’, ‘Outlaw King’ and ‘New Worlds’.

Ellie Bamber as Angela Knippenberg

Born on February 2, 1997, Eleanor Elizabeth Bamber is an English actress who started her acting career at the age of 12. She became the youngest member of the Players' Theatre Club. At the age of 13, she was chosen by Sir Trevor Nunn to play the role of ‘Young Jenny’ in his production of ‘Aspects of Love’ at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

In 2012, she made her television debut with ‘A Mother’s Son’ and went on to make an appearance in the movie ‘The Falling’. Bamber was cast as India Hastings in Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’. She starred alongside actors like Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Michael Shannon.

 In 2018, she won third prize at the Ian Charleson Awards for her 2017 performance as Hilde in ‘The Lady from the Sea’ at the Donmar Warehouse.
