One of the most iconic TV shows of all time, ‘The Nanny’, is finally making its way to a streaming service and it is HBO Max that heard the fans voicing their aspirations to see the beloved series once again on their television screens.

The series follows the life of a woman named Fran Fine (Fran Drescher) and how she accidentally becomes the nanny for a wealthy and widowed Broadway producer, Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy), and his three children. ‘The Nanny’ turned out to be a massive success for the makers and all the actors who appeared on the show. It ran for six seasons and featured a plethora of guest stars including Celine Dion, Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John, Ray Charles, and more.

The series was packed with humor and also served as a masterclass in sitcom fashion. The show’s protagonist, Fran Fine, was always seen wearing attire from some of the biggest designers like Nicole Miller, Moschino and Todd Oldham on the show. Cast

Fran Drescher

Dresher has been a part of the entertainment industry for more than four decades and has given many iconic performances during her career. In the 1980s, she gained recognition as a comedic actress in films like ‘Gorp’, ‘Doctor Detroit’ and This is Spinal Trap’. She also established a television career with guest appearances on several series.

The actress gained wider fame with the TV series ‘The Nanny’. She was nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Television Series during the show's run.

Charles Shaughnessy

Shaughnessy is an accomplished actor who is known for his roles on TV shows like ‘Days of Our Lives’, and ‘The Nanny’. The actor gained a lot of prominence after playing the role of Maxwell Sheffield on ‘The Nanny’. He also achieved a lot of success for his portrayal of Shane Donovan on ‘Days of Our Lives’.

According to the official synopsis, here’s what the viewers can expect from the iconic show: “When she appears on the doorstep of wealthy widower Maxwell Sheffield's New York home, cosmetics saleswoman Fran Fine unexpectedly gets a job as the nanny for the Broadway producer's three children, Maggie, Brighton, and Grace. Fran brings her no-nonsense honesty, sharp sense of humor, and `Queens logic' into the Sheffield household, helping them become a happy, healthy family - a family that Fran eventually joins when she marries Maxwell.” 

Creators

The series was created by Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson. The show ran for six seasons and saw many directors like Dorothy Lyman, Lee Shallat-Chemel, Linda Dey, Rande Bennett and Gail Mancuso helming the episodes.
