Only a few, if any, reality shows featuring celebs come close to 'The Masked Singer'. Here's a look at 5 unexpected personalities who participated in the madness

Season 4 of 'The Masked Singer' is currently on the air. Audiences of the show will agree that the masks on this season are very very innovative and the talent on the show is too good to ignore. This year the participating contestants combined have sold more than 281 million records worldwide, appeared in more than 5,120 episodes of television and 204 films, appeared in five Super Bowls, have four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one Academy Award nomination, and one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.

So far there've been a couple of evictions on the show. Busta Rhymes was the first contestant to take off that stunning Dragon mask after becoming the very first celebrity to be eliminated this season. Mickey Rourke went rogue and baffled everyone as he self-revealed himself by taking off his Gremlin mask even before the lowest voted celebrity was revealed. Next to be eliminated this season was Brian Austin Green and no one, not even his childhood bestie Robin Thicke, who features on the judging panel (along with Dr Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, and Jenny McCarthy), could guess it was him under the mask. Popular for the butt fumble, New York Jets (J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets! you totally chanted that) athlete Mark Sanchez was eliminated and revealed as the Baby Alien that is one of the most unique masks in the show's history. The Sun, The Seahorse, Pink Crocodile, and Whatchamacallit (we're very excited to know who this is) are some of the other outlandish masks that feature this season making it so much fun to watch. However, the past three seasons of the show, too, have had equally interesting and bizarre masks and the celebrities emerging from underneath them are the ones that not many could have expected to see on this fun show. Continue reading below for a roundup of all these masked celebrities from the past.

Sarah Palin as the Bear

(FOX)

If a pink and blue furry bear rapping to 'Baby Got Back' by Sir Mix A Lot was not crazy enough, a shock wave was sent across the show audiences as the Bear mask came off after being eliminated and the former vice presidential nominee and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin revealed herself. The promos for that particular episode had teased that the elimination would be so shocking that the audiences had to see it to believe it and host Nick Cannon's voice was heard saying, "This might be the most shocked I've ever been on this show." All of that extreme build-up truly proved to be justified with Palin's reveal. Watch the reveal by clicking on the play button on the video below.

Chaka Khan as Miss Monster

(FOX)

Do we even need to say something here? It's Chaka Khan. A professional singer with an impressive number of prestigious awards to her name, including 10 Grammys, during her glorious career that spans five decades. This show has a mixed bag of celebrities competing for the title. Athletes, actors, comedians, politicians, singers, the show has it all. However, Khan is a huge name, and to picture her as the celebrity under the peculiar but very fun, pink, one-eyed, butterfly bow sporting mask was unbelievable. To top it all, she was the third celebrity and the first professional singer to be eliminated so early on in the show, even though celebrity contestants like Rob Gronkowski (The White Tiger) who everyone in the audience hated and wanted to see eliminated, still got to stay on in the competition. Watch her elimination by clicking on the video below.

Dr Drew Pinsky as the Eagle

(FOX)

Yes, one of 2020's least-loved media personalities, the celebrity doctor Mr Drew Pinsky was on 'The Masked Singer' Season 2. Appearing on the show sporting the Eagle mask along with an outfit that only rock musicians could pull off, Pinsky lasted just a week in the show before he was eliminated. Pinsky hosted his radio show 'Loveline' for three decades dispensing love, sex, and relationship advice to listeners. However, none of the judges nor anyone from the audience was able to guess that he was under the Eagle mask until he got eliminated. Watch his elimination by clicking on the play button below.

Laila Ali as the Panda

(FOX)

Muhammad Ali's daughter and Nevada Boxing Hall of Famer Laila Ali was also on the show. Not only is she a premier athlete, but she's also got some great singing chops, her outing on this show proved that thoroughly as she got the audience jumping as she performed on stage. However, her reveal was something again which not everyone was expecting. Twitter was flooded by one too many comments that said, "@MaskedSingerFOX I would've never thought that @TheRealLailaAli would've participated in a show like this. I've always thought she was more of a serious person. I enjoyed seeing her perform tonight though. I really wanted the #PandaMask to win because she got the crowd jumping." Relive her being unmasked by clicking on the video below.

Patti LaBelle as the Flower

(ABC)

Patti was yet another massively talented singer who chose to join the lineup of celebrities for the debut season of this show. With a career spanning 6 successful decades in the music industry and multiple Grammy wins and nominations to her name, it was a huge surprise when she revealed herself after she was eliminated from the show that she should have won in the first place. Watch her unmasking below.

'The Masked Singer' airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on FOX.
