‘The Masked Dancer’ Spoilers: Who is the Cricket? Ashton Kutcher to Ian Ziering, here are the clues so far
The spin-off series of the popular singing reality show ‘The Masked Singer’ called ‘The Masked Dancer’ premiered on Sunday, December 27, 2020, with host Craig Robinson and panelists Ken Jeong, Brian Austin Green, Paula Abdul and Ashley Tisdale. In the very first episode, we saw contestants from the first group namely the Hammerhead, the Tulip, Cricket, Disco Ball and the Exotic Bird taking over the stage with their powerful performances.
After the Hammerhead and the Tulip mesmerized the panelists with their stunning performances, it was time for the masked celebrity in the costume of the Cricket to hit the stage. Before grooving to the track ‘Jump (For My Love)’ by The Pointer Sisters, we saw a few clues dropped by the unidentified celebrity in his montage. Apart from the tall height of the Cricket, the panelists noticed major visual clues like the woods, Las Vegas, number 90210, bombs, gold bars x10, and slot machines at a casino.
Dropping another hint, the Cricket said in the video, “I never thought I’d do a show like this,” suggesting he is not a professional dancer. He also referenced “getting Punked,” to which the panelists thought about the hidden camera show ‘Punk’d’ which starred actor Ashton Kutcher in the lead. The Cricket also spoke about his love life saying he was lucky at life but not at love, adding that he finally hit the jackpot. He also said his lover also taught him the art of balance to which Ken Jeong wondered if the Cricket might have ties to the show ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’
After watching the Cricket enjoying his performance of the evening, it was now time for the panelists to make their guesses. Trying to solve the mystery behind the mask, Brian said, the Cricket might be Ian Ziering as he had performed as a Chippendale in Las Vegas and had a very toothy smile just like the masked celebrity. Ashley, on the other hand, went for Ashton Kutcher.
The Internet was also quick to make their guesses on Twitter. Speaking on the same lines, one individual posted, “There’s a couple of people I know that are very seriously tweeting about who they think the cricket is on The Masked Dancer and I don’t know how I should handle it.” Another shared, “Cricket on Masked Dancer looks like the beetle from Thumbelina, for real. #MaskedDancer” One user added, “Tweeting this into the void but i’m watching masked dancer i think the cricket is ashton kutcher and i think the tulip is chloe from dance moms.” One guessed, “Long shot but maybe Clay Aiken?” Another added, “@IanZiering Thumbs up crickets smile is so Ian.”
