'The Handmaid's Tale', Hulu's most popular show starring Elizabeth Moss, OT Fagbenle, Joseph Fiennes, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Yvonne Strahovski among others was renewed for Season 4 in July 2019. On June 24, Hulu confirmed that the show's release is now pushed to 2021 and also released a teaser to hint at the direction the show will take in the future. June's legacy as of Season 3 was to plan the escape of children, babies and women who were trapped in Gilead.

A plane full of people had arrived in Canada by the end of Season 3 to seek asylum and, meanwhile, Serena and Fred are also arrested by the Canadian authorities at the border. Serena had agreed to a deal that allowed her to get in touch with baby Nichole in return for coming clean about all the illegal things that Fred had done in Gilead. June Osborne aka Offred and then OfJoseph, however, is still in Gilead because she has decided to fight the good fight with the help of all the Marthas and Handmaids in Gilead who are part of the Resistance.

The teaser, which consists of scenes from the past season and the upcoming one hint at Aunt Lydia giving up on June entirely after the act that she pulled. Commander Joseph, on the other hand, had managed to oust Fred in his absence, but with June's plan succeeding, will he continue to support her? A hint of differences arising between them had been hinted at the end of Season 3, but Season 4 may not address this. Everything depends on how Gilead deals with the aftermath of losing what they consider the future of their state — the children.

After Margaret Atwood released a sequel to her book, titled 'Testament', if the show were to follow the events as the book did, then June is expected to make it out of Gilead alive and so is Nick. However, whether this will be a part of Season 4 is something that we will have to wait and see. Max Minghella as Nick Blaine was not seen for the majority of Season 3 and he was sent to deal with the heart of the resistance, which was said to be taking place in Chicago. We will be seeing more of Nick this season.

Also, on the other side of the border, Moira and Luke will continue to fight for the rights of women, men and children from Gilead who had sought asylum in Canada. The upcoming season holds a lot of promise as Season 3 had disappointed many fans since the initial episodes were too slow and the screenplay was also not consistent.
