'The Half of It': Heartfelt Netflix movie makes viewers emotional and they demand a sequel

There are some movies that are meant to move you to tears. Or at least have you wanting for more.
Netflix's 'The Half of It' is one such movie. Directed by Alice Wu, we follow a smart, young hustler Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis) in the small town of Squahamish as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery. The coming-of-age queer tale is made sincerely and rarely has one moment that will disappoint you.
The movie stars Alexxis Lemire as Aster Flores, the beautiful girl in the school who is eyed by Paul Munsky (Daniel Diemer). Munsky approaches Ellie to help him write Aster a letter, but unbeknownst to him is Ellie's sexual preferences.
Through its heartfelt story, 'The Half of It' has moved several viewers.
And even though you could have guessed the ending (with the trailer), many aren't exactly bothered by that fact. "I loved the story of the half of it which is much more about a friendship than anything else, I think whoever saw the trailer as I already imagined it was not going to be a cliché romance only with dyke. disappointed with the ending but not surprised."
The ending in particular, which sees Ellie and Aster bid farewell on the promise of meeting in a couple of years has many viewers feeling emotional. "“SEE YOU IN A COUPLE YEARS.” HAY. THIS SCENE. WATCH THE HALF OF IT BITCHES!!!! " tweeted a fan.
"I am not a critic and much less an appraiser of any film, but this film touched my heart in an inexplicable way, in it there is the possibility of understanding, the expansion of the idea that your religion will never annul the other and that love, it" tweeted a fan.
So much so that many are already demanding a second half. "that's it. i'm at the half of it stan account now i can ONLY cry about the half of it," tweeted a viewer. "it's called the half of it cause it's only one half and there'll be a part 2 where ellie chu and aster flores are college gfs aha i connected the dots," added another.
The ending of the movie, many fans say, demands a deserving sequel. "the half of it left my heart feeling incredibly full but empty at the same time and that’s how you know 1) that it’s incredible and truly touches you on a profound human level and 2) THAT WE NEED A SEQUEL."
