'The Great Giveback': Fans 'hate' design choices made by Melissa and Jenna, call it 'ugly'

Fans of the new HGTV program are displeased with some designs as Melissa and Jenna strive to repay a kind social worker

Melissa and Jenna, an Illinois cousin-duo, assist a social worker this time after a successful season premiere. However, some of the new HGTV presenters' design choices are being questioned by viewers.

Kadee and Mynor are this lovely pair who are taken aback by the hosts since they thought they were signing up for a random home remodeling project. Kadee, Mynor's wife, nominated him for a house renovation. Kadee believes her husband, who works tirelessly for at-risk youngsters in Hollywood, deserves it. She desires to pay tribute to and appreciate her spouse with the help of Melissa and her cousin, Jenna.

Mynor hails from a large family with ten brothers and sisters. Amid this, they had to grow up in a lot of poverty. Mynor had to go from place to place as a child. His parents were both alcoholics, which caused him and his siblings to be placed in foster care. Her wife argues that he could have easily given up and thrown in the towel, leaving him with no purpose in life, but he didn't. When things became tough, he didn't give up and kept going, pushing through, and persevering. Kadee believes that this is why he deserves to be recognized and appreciated so that others may understand how hard he has worked and what he has overcome.

Mynor is a program director at Oasis of Hollywood, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California that likes to instill hope, faith, and promise in marginalized children and teenagers. He was one of the children that were brought up in the program and received a lot of assistance. They were like an anchor for his family, guiding them through the entire scenario. Growing up, Mynor felt a lot of rage and resentment, which led him down the wrong path for a while. He attempts to live by his mother's final words, "just try to do good," and that is where his heart lies.

Their property requires a severe makeover since it has become a second home for people they deal with, such as teenagers and children who feel they are family away from their true family. Melissa and Jenna both believe their apartment exudes a harsh atmosphere, which contrasts with the pair, who are just nice and friendly. Mynor reveals his wish to own a bathtub in which he may bathe his body and relax while speaking with the designer actors. The duo also admits liking warm hues like moody green and even brass. Mynor says his favorite room style is "mid-century modern." Melissa tells the pair that she would warm up the property and make it a comfortable place to land.

Jenna wished for a better closet arrangement for the pair and improved lighting for the space when discussing ideas for the remodel. Because the couple collects souvenirs, the hosts decide to integrate them as well, but with something a bit more unique. They also planned to give the pair a bathtub as a surprise. They summon Brandon from the construction crew to demolish the "many" showers and begin work on a fully new bathroom. The aim was to keep the toilet. They also intend to remove the shelves to make room for a large shower and a bathtub.

Melissa and Jenna sit with their design team member, Nicole, in a design studio in Los Angeles, with cocktails in hand, to explore ideas for the young adorable couple. Because the layout of the bathroom is unusual, they intend to demolish it and replace it with a single large wet room. They work on the tiles to get the mid-century look they desire, which ultimately does not sit well with the viewers. They resorted to social media to voice their dissatisfaction with the tile design. The bedroom in the craftsman's old Hollywood house appears to be lacking in storage space, so they intend to shift the bed around to construct a system with drawers. The closet doors, with their attractive hardware, would create the impression of built-in storage. They consider installing a custom-made credenza because there is no longer room for a conventional dresser. They decide to add texture to the walls to make the place stand out. The cousin-duo ultimately goes bathtub searching and has a time trying them on by getting into them and experiencing the true sensation. Melissa also decides to sew the newlyweds a big lumbar cushion as a personal touch. She pulls out her school sewing machine and sews the pillow cover herself. Fans are awestruck by the gesture, which they relate to Melissa working on her sewing machine while wearing her Adidas. One fan tweeted: "The fact that Melissa McCarthy is using a sewing machine she got in middle/high school while wearing some Adidas makes me like her more.
