Dave Friday, one of the finalists of this year's 'The Great British Baking Show', had a good stint. Like Peter Sawkins and Laura Adlington, there were baking fails and winning moments for this contestant too but that didn't divert his attention from his ultimate goal of winning the trophy. He kept at it, improving and improvising as he finished challenges thrown at him by judges Prue Lieth and Paul Hollywood.

Even though he's passionate about baking, that is not what takes up his time. When not putting together delicious desserts, Dave works as a security guard out of Hampshire. The 31-year-old has a deep interest in cars and DIY projects, and adores his Japanese hunting dog — Yoki, according to a Metro report. Dave is not married but lives with his girlfriend Stacie Val, with whom he welcomed a baby boy, Ronnie, a few months ago.

Coming to his performance at the show, the baker shared with Portsmouth that he was "nervous" and didn't have much practice for the final bakes. He got only two days to ace it. But what made it better was his competitors, Peter and Laura, whom he thought of more as friends.

"It did feel like three friends going into the final, but the thought of being so close to winning gave it a bit of a competitive edge," he told the publication and added that he was encouraged to do better in the finals by his close friends and family. "I had close friends and family spurring me on and telling me I was good enough to do this. Stacey said that I had already won in her eyes so anything from now is a bonus."

Dave will not only remembered for his determination to win but also how his journey began in the iconic tent. In the first week itself, he made headlines with the epic fly-swatting incident, after which his upside-down pineapple cake fell on the floor. It could have eliminated him but thankfully, the judges were considerate and gave him another fighting chance.
