‘The Good Doctor’ Season 3 Episode 6: Fans say too many advisors could spoil Shaun and Carly’s fledgling relationship

When Carly and Shaun have a misunderstanding and Morgan and Claire come to rescue, fans think that too much advice and too many advisors could be detrimental for the couple’s relationship.

There’s no doubt that relationship advice can be very helpful when a couple is in trouble and trying to reach an understanding. Sometimes, people do need a mediator to hear both sides of the story. But as is the case with everything else, the same formula doesn’t apply to every couple or every relationship. This is exactly how the case of Shaun and Carly can be described.

We had seen in the earlier episodes how slowly they were inching to the next step in their relationship, when all of a sudden, Shaun is excluded from a get-together at Carly’s place. Even under normal circumstances, this can be quite a reason for a fight/argument between two people. We know how sensitive Shaun is to these things, particularly when it comes to Carly. He is, however, struggling and trying to manage his emotions, feelings, and handle his relationship in the best way possible. But it is his ‘well-wishers’ who believe that they can ‘rescue’ him from every trouble that he faces.

Fans feel, and so do we, that people outside the relationship are one of the major reasons why couples fight. Like @lady_metallicar tweets, “Yes, and that's the problem there are way too many people in their relationship. Claire and the others mean well but they got to let Shaun handle his part in the relationship like an adult. #TheGoodDoctor”.

For instance, when Shaun and the nurses were practicing surgery in the OR, and Morgan pushed him into talking about his and Carly’s relationship, it was not necessary. The moment Shaun started sharing little details of what he and Carly have been upto, everyone had their opinion to give him, which made him confused and put thoughts in his head. That triggered questions that otherwise might not have arisen. This was followed by Claire butting in between Carly and Shaun to ‘fix the miscommunication’ that was going on between them. This, in turn, disappointed Carly, which is most natural for anyone to feel.

The point is that people believe that there are too many cooks spoiling the broth and that Shaun should be left to deal with his personal life as he can, as an adult. And fans fear that this might cause issues between him and his new girlfriend. To quote @cmitch410 on his tweet, “Relationship is so much easier when you talk to each other. Harder when you have other people talking and adding their two cents. #TheGoodDoctor.”

‘The Good Doctor’ Season 3 airs on Monday at 10.30 pm only on ABC.
