‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' is undoubtedly one of the most highly-awaited superhero shows of 2021 and fans cannot wait to see the Marvel superheroes in their full glory once again. There are no points for guessing that the series chronicles the journey of superheroes Sam Wilson aka Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

The series will take place after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. It will see Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes team up for a global adventure that tests their abilities and patience.

'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier': Marvel drops video explaining story and origin of US Agent John Walker

While some of the Avengers are set to get their own standalone and sequels in Phase 4, ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ are getting a six-episode miniseries that will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on March 19, 2021. The show is filled with intriguing characters who have appeared in the Marvel comics and movies in the past. So let’s take a look at the cast members of the upcoming Disney+ series.

Cast

Anthony Mackie

Born on September 23, 1978, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mackie has become a global star after being cast as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he has been a part of the industry since 2002 and has given some brilliant performances. He made his film debut with ‘8 Mile', a movie based on the life of rapper Eminem. Mackie played the role of Papa Doc in the film and was praised for his acting.

Two years later, in 2004, he appeared in the movie ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ alongside Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Jeffrey Wright and Liev Schreiber. The movie was pivotal in taking his career forward and got a lot of roles because of his stint in the movie. Later that year, he would appear in the movie ‘Million Dollar Baby’ along with Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman.

Mackie was continuously being cast in big movies and was given a chance to prove his worth as an actor. His role in Kathryn Bigelow's 'The Hurt Locker’ turned out to be another big break for him. In 2014, he appeared in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ as Falcon and continued to portray the character in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Apart from the aforementioned projects, Mackie has featured on ‘Pain & Gain’, ‘Triple 9’, ‘Black Mirror’, ‘Wetlands’ and more.

Sebastian Stan

The Romanian-American actor has appeared in a wide range of TV shows and movies to show his true potential as an actor. He studied acting at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, England, and began his career as a stage actor. Stan's career began in earnest in 2003 with a role on ‘Law & Order’. This was followed by several film appearances, including ‘Tony n' Tina's Wedding’, ‘The Architect’ and ‘The Covenant’.

After a string of movies, Stan earned a recurring role in the hit television series ‘Gossip Girl’ as Cartier Baizen. In 2010, he appeared in Darren Aronofsky's Oscar-nominated movie ‘Black Swan’.

He became an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011 when he portrayed the character of James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’. The actor was re-introduced in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ as the Winter Soldier who has no memory of his past. He has reprised the role of Winter Soldier in movies such as ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Stan was recently seen alongside Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland and Mia Wasikowska in the movie ‘The Devil All the Time’.

Daniel Bruhl 

Bruhl became a part of the MCU with ‘Captain America: Civil War’ in 2016 and played the role of antagonist Zemo. Born in 1978 as Daniel César Martin Brühl González Domingo, the Spanish-German actor began his acting career with the TV series ‘Verbotene Liebe’. He made a lot of cameo appearances in many films and TV shows in the 2000s, but gained prominence with his role of Fredrick Zoller in the movie ‘Inglorious Bastards’.

In 2013, he portrayed the iconic Formula 1 driver Niki Lauda in the movie ‘Rush’ which garnered him his first-ever nomination at the Golden Globes. Meanwhile, in 2019, he received his second nomination at the coveted awards ceremony for the miniseries ‘The Alienist’.

Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter)

Emily VanCamp started her journey in the MCU with the role of Kate aka Agent 13 in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. She returned to the cinematic universe with ‘Civil War’ as Sharon Carter, Peggy Carter's (Hayley Atwell) niece and Cap's love interest for a brief time.

Apart from being a part of the MCU, VanCamp has played pivotal roles in TV shows such as ‘Revenge’, ‘Brothers & Sisters’, ‘Everwood’ and ‘The Resident’.

Wyatt Russell 

Born on July 10, 1986, Wyatt Hawn Russell started his career as an ice hockey player and played pro-hockey for various teams such as  Richmond Sockeyes, Langley Hornets, Coquitlam Express, Chicago Steel, Brampton Capitals and Groningen Grizzlies. His first major role in films came in 2011 when he appeared in the movie 'Cowboys & Aliens' alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. However, he gained prominence with his role in the movie '22 Jump Street' and received a lot of praise for his acting. 'Overlord', 'Arrested Development', 'Black Mirror' and 'The Good Lord Bird' are some of the other TV shows and movies he has appeared in.

He plays John Walker in the Marvel series. Walker will be a new character that will be introduced in the ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ TV series. In the comics, John Walker always wanted to honor his brother’s legacy and become an American hero. Unfortunately, he did so by turning to a villain called the Power Broker. However, after having few meetings with Captain America, he changed his path. The government asked him to be Captain America and did best to do justice to Steve Roger’s name. After Steve Rogers reclaimed the Captain America mantle, Walker took up a new costumed identity as US Agent.
