Showtime drama series ‘The Chi’ ever since its first season in 2018 has been garnering massive love and accolades for its strong storyline. 1. ‘Moonlight’ film was his official debut in Hollywood

Not many know this but Oscar-winning film ‘Moonlight’ was Alex's official debut film in the industry. He had been an ordinary performing arts school student in Miami until he went ahead and auditioned for this role of young Chiron on the insistence of his teacher Tanisha Cidel, who played the character of a principal in the critically acclaimed film.

2.  He thinks of his ‘Moonlight’ co-actor Mahershala Ali as his second father

According to an old New York Times interview, whilst talking about his debut, Alex praised his co-star Mahershala Ali by saying, “Mahershala taught me a lot of tips about facials.” Calling him his second father and raving about the star, he said, “He was all like, just think about the moment that is going on.”

3. He has already been nominated for about thirteen awards out of which he has won nine

The 17-year-old has received 13 award nominations so far out of which he has won nine, including Best Ensemble Performance at the 2016 Gotham Awards, Robert Altman Award at the 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards, Best Cast Ensemble at the 2016 Awards Circuit Community Awards, Boston Society of Film Critics’ Awards 2016 for best ensemble cast, Central Ohio Film Critics Association awards 2017 for best ensemble cast, Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle Awards 2017 for best ensemble cast, Gold Derby Awards 2017 for best ensemble cast for 'Moonlight'. He has been a Nevada Film Critics Society awards 2016 winner for Best Youth Performance, and won Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards 2016 for Best Performance by a Youth.

For ‘Moonlight’, he has also been nominated at Las Vegas Film Critics Society Awards 2016 for Youth in Film, New Mexico Film Critics awards 2016 for Best Young Actor/Actress, Online Film & Television Association awards 2017 for Best Youth Performance, Seattle Film Critics Society awards 2016 for Best Youth Performance and Young Artist Awards 2017 for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Teen Actor, Black Reel Awards 2017 for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance, Male.

4. Alex wishes to have a career like Denzel Washington and also wants to act in ‘Walking Dead’ series

In an old New York Times interview, Alex opened up on how he wanted to have an illustrious career like Denzel Washington and wants to act in more action films. Also opening up on how he wants to be on the ‘Walking Dead’ series and more, Alex had said, “I want to be on The Walking Dead. I need to talk to my managers about that.”

5. He wishes to be a scientist that cures cancer

In an interview with Hey U Guys dating back to February 2017, Alex opened up on how he wants to become a scientist and cure cancer. He said, “Football is out of the question now, but scientist-wise, I’m going to take most of my money… Wait, some of my money, and build a lab, and I’m going to take the best scientists to work on curing cancer and stuff like that.”
