The rivalry between Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio and Wes Bergman on has been one of the highlights of the MTV’s popular reality show ‘The Challenge’. The two reality show veterans have been at each other’s throats for over a decade. While Bananas appeared on 20 seasons of ‘The Challenge’, Bergman appeared in 13 seasons. But they have always been feuding in every season they appear together.

The two are so engrossed in putting each other down that, often the rookies take advantage of the rivalry and end up advancing on the show, while these two rivals get the boot early on.  In fact, the two hate each other so much that in an interview prior to the premiere of season 34, Bananas said that he was more focussed on beating Bergman than winning the show.

But the premiere episode of Season 35, ‘The Challenge: Total Madness’, there was indeed madness in the air, when fans saw the two arch-rivals hug each other and form an alliance. The two veterans decided to adopt a different strategy this season. They felt that it would be in their best interests to join forces and take down others rather than watch others go ahead while they are busy going at each other.

If you’re wondering how come these two enemies have decided to put their differences aside then here is the answer. In a podcast, Bananas revealed, “What we’re doing by constantly, season after season, going at each other right off the bat, is we’re making everybody else’s path easier. So we’re basically doing ourselves a disservice. We’re so focused on our own game and let’s be real, it’s ego-driven. We’re not focusing on the big picture, which is if we were to not fight each other right out of the gate, we make everybody’s lives more difficult and we’ll make our lives easier.”

Fans are refusing to buy the duo's alliance. They are convinced that one of them will betray the other before the end of the season. A fan tweeted, “Johnny and Wes working together is like Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic working together, it’s a sh*tshow waiting to happen #TheChallenge35 @johnnybananas @WestonBergmann.” Another fan shared, “Johnny Bananas and Wes are in an alliance together. I don’t buy it #TheChallenge35.”

“Johnny, I'm still not sure if I can trust Wes. He really makes me mad buddy. But I'll be careful if he pulls another treacherous trick. #TheChallenge35,” expressed a fan. Another fan echoed similar thoughts with, “how many episodes until Johnny turns on Wes or Vice Versa? I have it set at 4.5.”

“Johnny and Wes will betray each other over in under a week,” commented another fan.

“Johnny and Wes teaming up is like Bernie Sanders and Trump working together to make America great again.. #TheChallenge,” joked a fan about the duo’s unlikely alliance.

‘The Challenge: Total Madness’ airs every Wednesday, at 8 pm ET only on MTV.
