'The Call to Unite': Julia Roberts reads children's book at coronavirus benefit event, makes fans emotional

Among the 200 personalities from across the world joining in for the global live stream was Julia Roberts, who read a children's story titled Rescue the Princess

In 'The Call To Unite' event, the 24-hour live stream event that is aimed at bringing people closer together in these dire times of a pandemic that threatens our very existence. It is aimed at providing emotional support to those who are coping with the challenges brought on by the pandemic. 

Among the 200 stars from across the world joining in for the global Livestream was Julia Roberts, who read a children's story titled Rescue the Princess to ensure that education endures "for the world's most vulnerable children". 

Fans of the actress who managed to catch her on the live were only glad to have done so. "So honored and excited to be part of @TheCallToUnite and to have Julia Roberts and @iamMostlySane reading Room to Read's original storybooks to ensure education endures! #AnswerTheCall #RoomtoRead," tweeted one. 

"I loved her book, and this appearance by Marie Kondo gave me great joy, especially watching her fold a t-shirt! Thank you for inspiring me to make my home a more peaceful place during this stressful time. #answerthecall" tweeted another. 

Roberts read the children's book 'Rescue the Princess', and for those who happened to miss some of it, a Twitter fan kindly informs where you can read the whole of it. "The book was called Rescue the Princess. You can find it at @RoomtoRead digital library."

The event, which is aimed at bringing people together, fight the war of humanity, is close to achieving its goal as it offers relief to people. "#thecalltounite my mom has a hard time because this covid pandemic and her breast cancer treatment. She is a nurse but cant go to work now. I really could use any help contacting julia roberts as i wanna ask her a little thing to help cheer my mom up for her birthday next week," tweeted a fan.

The collaborative event led by Tim Shriver also saw celebrities from across the world make appearances including Prajakta Koli, Kailash Sathyarthi, Deepak Chopra, Jay Shetty, Naomi Campbell, Eva Longoria, George W Bush, Jennifer Garner, Oprah Winfrey and more. "The Call to Unite is a celebration of those acts of humanity, and an invitation to the world to join in lifting one another in this moment of need. We need each other. Now more than ever," it was declared in a press statement.
