The October 27 episode of 'The Bachelorette' saw two suitors being sent him after their relationship with Clare Crawley turned bitter. While Yosef chose to leave after slamming Clare for being "immature" and "classless", Zach was asked to leave following his one-on-one with Clare. Just when the suitors begin to complain about Dale getting all the time with Clare, the latter arranges a date with Zach. Zach was excited for obvious reasons and gears up to woo Clare during their private time.

Prior to the spa date, Clare also notes that she was excited to spend more time with Zach, despite not being able to get Dale out of her mind. While Zach and Clare seem to have a good time at the spa date, Clare is seen constantly mentioning Dale and how she would rather have him in Zach's place. Nevertheless, Clare and Zach jump into the pool to continue their date. However, while getting out of the pool, Clare leans forward to kiss him, but Zach takes a moment to respond. His gesture ticks Clare off and she soon pulls away, when Zach tries to make a move on her.

When Zach asks "what's wrong", Clare simply smiles and says "nothing, let's go". Zach continues to pursue her for a kiss, but Clare refuses. Clare later tells on camera show "embarrassed" she was when Zach rejected her kiss. The thing we know, the host Chris Harrison tells Zach that Clare wouldn't like to continue her date with him and he's asked to leave the show.

Zach's elimination hasn't gone down well with fans of the show who are defending him on Twitter. A significant number of them are of the opinion that he didn't deserve to be sent home for no fault of his. One tweeted, "Clare leaned in for a kiss, stopped, blamed Zach & acted hurt. He wanted to kiss her. From what we can see, she created & caused that uncomfortable situation. With her self acknowledged sensitivity issues & trauma, she wasn’t ready for". Another tweeted, "Now I see Clare. She's a princess. Zach DID NOT back away from her. She's making excuses to get out of this. #TheBachelorette" and one wrote, "This Zach guy did not deserve this. Like Claire we all saw what happened Zach did not deserve this gaslighting. Don't revenge ill treat these men because you didn't win in your past seasons. #TheBachelorette"
