Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld' is going to be a TV show
BBC Studios will be doing a 6-part series that will be based on the late author's novels.
Terry Pratchett's 41-part book series 'Discworld' is going to be coming back to the small screen. A new report indicates that the series is being developed by BBC Studios as a 6-part series.
Talks about the series were whispered over the years and the series has spent a considerable amount of time in 'development'. The rumors gre'The Watch', the 'Discworld' TV adaptation has reportedly brought on producer and writer Simon Allenw stronger once Deadline reported that BBC Studios was working on one such project. Supposedly titled .
His involvement with the BBC Studios has been confirmed with Simon's agency, which has listed the six one-hour episodes amongst his writing credits. The production of this series will most likely be a joint effort on part of BBC Studios and Pratchett's company Narrativia, which manages the late writer's rights to his works.
During his lifetime, Terry Pratchett wrote more than 70 books, with a large chunk of them set in the fictional world of Discworld. The comic fantasy world is said to be a flat world, that rests upon four elephants that fly through space on the back of a giant turtle.
After a long and very public battle with Alzheimer's disease, Terry Pratchett passed away in 2015 at the age of 66.
'Discworld's' novel 'Guards! Guards!' introduces us to The City Watch, a gang of motley characters that are lead by Commander Sam Vimes. Out of the 41 books, at least eight of them center around mysteries or crime novels, which made them fan favorites.
Many of Pratchett's other novels have been adapted for television as well as film. Some of them include 'Hogfather', the animated series 'Wyrd Sisters', 'The Colour of Magic and 'Going Postal. More recently, Pratchett's 'Good Omens', which was co-authored by Neil Gaiman, has been adapted into a TV series, with David Tenant and Michael Sheen in the lead roles.
