‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 Episode 10 exclusive clip shows Derek Garland could be the murderer we are looking for
The big ending of CBS All Access’ latest psychological drama thriller is almost around the corner. But before we reach the climax of the story, we already had a shocking revelation about Derek Garland (Christopher Meyer), a character who has been reticent all this while. But in this exclusive clip, we see him burying his dead brother in the middle of a forest. That’s an act only a cold-blooded killer could carry out.
Derek has portrayed himself to be much wiser and sensible than his brother, Ron, or even their ambitious mother, Vanessa, who married Frank Garland of Nashville’s finest brewery. After her husband’s death, she has been taking control of the business, the family estate, and not to mention, her sons. In the course of the story, we discovered how suffocated Derek has felt between his mother and brother.
However, he had always kept quiet and reluctantly supported them, even if it meant kidnapping his stepsister, Simone. More than most of the things the Garland family has done, Derek has been coerced into being on the team. Or so it seemed so far until he decided to take things into his hands.
Here’s where things start to take and interesting turn, revealing things about this otherwise quiet son and brother. He kills Ron, who threatens to put their mother on the line for murder of Clay Callaway, their family lawyer and Vanessa’s discreet boyfriend. What we are contemplating is whether he killed Clay as well. It has been established that Derek doesn’t support his mother or brother’s way of dealing with things and how twisted they are. After all, they conspired against Simone and changed her father’s trust documents with help of Clay. And when Simone tries to investigate and reaches out to Clay for truth, he is brutally killed in his office.
Before this, when Simone had just started to dig into her father’s death and spoke to Cora, Frank’s confidante, assistant and family friend, she found Cora also killed mysteriously in a break-in at her own home.
When you put these pieces of instances together, it is not impossible to see that someone is trying really hard to keep Simone away from her step-family and finding out the truth. Our question is if Derek is that ‘someone’. But why?
We also have a theory of why Derek could be the one behind all the murders that have happened so far and somehow connects them to Simone.
For one, he is all but trying to protect his mother from becoming the prime suspect. At the same time, he is also trying to keep Simone away from suspicion of the police. However, one thing is very clear that Derek is done with Ron oppressing and controlling him for years and finally he could take no more, even if it meant killing more people.
The question is, how far would Derek go with his retribution?
