15-year-old girl with eating disorder hangs herself in bedroom after telling family ‘I’d rather die than eat’
15-year-old Ellie Long was found hanging in her room on December 12 last year, and was declared dead two days later
A teenager battling anorexia was reportedly found hanging in her bedroom after she told her family that she would "rather die than eat," an inquest heard on Wednesday.
The 15-year-old, identified as Ellie Long, of Wymondham, Norfolk, had been struggling with a "low mood" for two years prior to her death on December 12 and had also written a suicide note previously.
Ellie's family said that she had been "failed by everyone" after the teenager struggled to get assistance from health and social services for her eating disorder. Reports state that she was also given a double dose of anti-depressants Prozac by doctors who had never seen the girl in person.
